SubscribeGRAND ISLAND – Meagan Roth and Tyra Douglas led Lincoln Southeast to a 25-13, 25-21, 25-20 win over Lincoln North Star Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Class A state tournament at the Heartland Events Center.
Roth had 19 kills and Douglas added 13 as the Knights controlled the match pretty much from start to finish to advance into tomorrow’s semifinals against Omaha Marian. It will be the fifth meeting between the Crusaders and Knights this season with each team owning two wins over the other.
Southeast finished the first set on a 18-6 run and in the second set, with the score tied at 21, the Knights got a North Star service error and then three straight kills from Douglas to take the set. In the final set, Southeast used a 7-3 run midway through the set to increase a 12-10 lead to 19-13 en route to the victory.
Emma McKillip added four blocks for Lincoln Southeast while Carly Sheppard had a team-high 22 digs and Kylee Wurster dished out 41 assists.
For North Star, Sarah Allick had six kills and eight blocks while teammate Tanner Stroup had seven kills. Jenna Tederman had 14 digs in the match.
