SubscribeIn essence, there are four dates for volleyball fans in Nebraska to circle during the club season as can’t-miss-weekends to watch some of the best volleyball players and teams in the Midwest compete. The first of those dates is this Sunday.
That’s when a total of 41 teams are scheduled to compete in four different age divisions at the Premier Classic. The tournament will be played at both The Oasis and The Courts – which are located just southeast of 144th & Giles in Omaha and just a block apart.
Complete schedules are available below with matches for 15s, 16s, 17s and 18s all starting at 8 a.m. with tournament play likely lasting well into the late afternoon. The 18s will be playing at The Oasis while the 15s, 16s and 17s will be at The Courts.
This is a great opportunity for fans to get a look at some of the best players in the state. In the 17s competition, there are a pair of Nebraska standouts to watch for. Tiani Reeves, a junior from Gothenburg and the only underclassman on the Nebraska Prep Volleyball All-Nebraska First Team, is playing for the Nebraska ONE Lonewolf squad. Reeves is a Division I athlete in both volleyball and track and is being heavily recruited by several coaches in each sport.
Also in the 17s division is Emerson-Hubbard’s Kylie Belt – one of the top sophomores in the state who was a Class D-1 first team selection. She is playing for MVP 17 Trevor out of Sioux City.
Below is a breakdown of the top teams and key players competing in the 18s division at The Oasis on Sunday. And for those of you keeping track, the other tournament dates to circle on your calendar would be President’s Day Weekend for the Elite President’s Day Tournament at the Century Link Center, which draws some of the best teams in the nation Feb. 15-17. Also, when the JVA Northern Plains Power League (featuring the Nebraska Juniors, VC Nebraska, River City Juniors and some of the top teams throughout the Midwest) compete in Omaha Feb. 22-23 and Lincoln April 12-13.
