As difficult as it is for freshmen to make an impact at the varsity level in high school, the club season allows those athletes a place to showcase their talents against each other.
Some of those future stars are on the VCNebraska 15 Elite squad this season. Kelly O’Conner, who was a graduate assistant on the Hastings College national championship team in 2016 and was on the Nebraska coaching staff for the national championship this fall, is the head coach for VCN 15 Elite. She is assisted by Jack Lesure, a former Division I player at Ball State University.
One of the familiar names on the VCN 15 Elite team is Wahoo freshman Elle Glock, who helped lead the Warriors to the Class C-1 state title this fall as a right side. During the club season, however, she will be a setter.
Caitlyn Erland will serve as VCN 15 Elite’s other setter and can also play libero or defensive specialist. Brooke McCartney will be exclusively a libero or defensive specialist.
On the pins, VCN 15 Elite will have Sidney Hauptman, Lauren Kavan, Mya Larson, Elisabeth Tomlin and Kenzie Scutro. In the middle will be Kayla Davis and Kalli Jurgensmeier.
Members of the VCN 15 Black team are Ellie Baumert, Kiley Elkins, Taylor Kudym, Ava Lovitt, Shayla Meyer, Hannah Pham, Morgan Sangl, Masa Scheierman, Annalee Ventling-Brown and Carly vonRentzell.
Members of the VCN 15 Blue team are Taneesha Curovic, Kaitlyn Dostal, Ella Drews, Josie Gabel, Sophia Gallagher, Ella Hosek, DeLaney Novy, Haley Sprackling, Cora Thomas and Ahnysa Zuhairi.
Members of the VCN 15 White team are Sydney Gubbels, Allie Hall, Halle Heiss, Sophie James, Lily Larsen, Sarah Martinez, Josie Mason, Shiloh Roth, Emma Rust and Cambry Waddell.
