Yesterday’s feature on late-season stock risers covered Class of 2026 setters who have rocketed to prominence this spring. That was the first setter spotlight of this series, so we still have some catching up to do. So, let’s bring on the 2027s.
This has been a special year for 15s teams across the Great Plains Region, and we’re not done yet. Here’s your refresher on some of the top setters in Nebraska’s Class of 2027.
Let’s start in the River City Jrs camp. Guenther has been an incredibly impactful contributor in the 15 Navy lineup, and her accurate setting is only part of the story. This hardworking athlete also regularly tallies double-digit kills in a single match, helping River City Jrs grind out wins throughout the 2024 campaign. Add Guenther to the growing list of talented setters at this club.
VCNebraska is stacked in the 15s age group. Kroemer was an essential part of 15 Black’s recent surge, which included a bid-earning triumph at MEQ. This fluid, dynamic athlete fits the mold of so many other great setters we’ve seen at VCN. Kroemer sets against the flow with amazing precision and often leaves her right sides with a one-on-one opportunity. A similar story has played out with 15 Black’s other attackers as Kroemer strengthens her cohesion with the entire frontcourt. GJNC will be the ultimate test for those setter-hitter bonds.

Waters was a very early entry on our 2027 watch list, and she just keeps climbing the ladder. Her debut season with Gretna East primarily put her right-side attacking range on display. After putting up big numbers on the prep side, Waters made the quick transition to a setter role with Premier Nebraska 15 Gold. She is becoming Nebraska’s can’t-miss setter-opposite in the 2027 class and led 15 Gold to a qualifier triumph at Windy City. The lights will get even brighter in Las Vegas, but Waters has seen plenty of big stages already.
Tally another one for the Omaha Concordia-Club Legacy pipeline. Moulton already got her shot in the varsity spotlight last fall, and that experience is translating to further club success this spring. Club Legacy 15 Alpha benefits from Moulton’s quickness and foot speed, which lets her track down any pass and set overhand. More quality reps await as Moulton embarks on her second season with a fast-rising Mustang squad.

Moser remains a driving force for some of VCNebraska 15 Elite’s best moments. She frequently runs a 5-1 offense and understands how to harness each of her hitters’ strengths. For many of 15 Elite’s attackers, that means cranking up the tempo. Moser has a feel for 15 Elite’s fast pace without sacrificing the location or accuracy that hitters need. Get a good look at this well-oiled machine at GJNC, where VCNebraska will be vying for a 15 Open title.
This isn’t our first shoutout for Christensen this year, but her late-season surge is certainly worth noting. She’s the kind of setter who makes an immediate difference whenever she rotates in, and a lot of that has to do with Christensen’s serve. Opposing teams had a tough time passing Christensen’s deliveries from the end line. Of course, we also saw this Lincoln Lutheran prep athlete dish the ball with great precision and consistency. Nebraska Juniors has a solid foundation at the 15s level.
The 6-2 has been Nebraska Elite 15 Revolution’s preferred system this year, allowing us to watch two exceptional setters run the offense. Whenever Barcel had her turn across the back row, she always managed to keep the offense flowing. It’s a tough task in a two-setter system, but Barcel’s maturity and poise has been a huge asset for Nebraska Elite. GJNC’s big test is on the way, but 15 Revolution’s setters will be ready.
We can’t forget about this vital leader for Premier Nebraska 15 Red. Schnabel used the GPR Bid Tournament to remind us of how much she brings to the setter position. She is capable of putting up a physical block in the front row and is not afraid rack up some second-ball attacks. 15 Red also found success when Schnabel took risks and pushed the pace to the outside. This Premier Nebraska squad has shown a lot of different lineups this year, but Schnabel is an important constant.
Nebraska ONE 15 Black brought a wealth of setter talent to the forefront in 2024. Dominy added to the team’s spectacular ball handling and could adapt to any lineup 15 Black deployed. The Seward prep star showed a knack for finding the hot hand and was an impenetrable digging force in the right-back area. Now, Dominy can look forward to keeping the postseason streak alive at Seward, one of Class B’s most consistent programs.
