Over the last few years, Premier 17 Gold has proven to be one of the top club teams in Nebraska and the region and the 2018 version looks to continue that tradition.
Under the direction of Millard West head coach Joe Wessel, Premier 17 Gold features four Division I recruits and a tremendous amount of balance.
“This is a very dynamic and fundamental group of student-athletes who demand to be challenged every time they take the floor.” Wessel said. “The athleticism, chemistry and work ethic will help this team achieve many goals throughout the season. This team has some new faces and looks to reinvent themselves as the top 171s in the region and nation.”
Megan Skovsende of Skutt Catholic and Hailey Zuroske (Wyoming) of Omaha Marian are the team’s two top outsides. Taylor Pribyl (Jacksonville State) of Omaha Concordia, Bailey Wilson of Millard West and Micaiah Vrbka of David City Aquinas are the middles. Jessica Hendrix and Hannah Zebert – both of Papillion-LaVista South – will handle the right side for Premier 17 Gold.
Iowa State recruit Jaiden Centeno of Millard West is the libero and Omaha recruit Sami Clarkson of Omaha Concordia is the setter. Bree Green of Millard West will handle the defensive specialist and secondary setter position.
Wessel will be assisted by Jessica Knecht and Megan Barnes. Premier 17 Gold will take part in the Triple Crown Volleyball NIT President’s Day Tournament in Salt Lake City as well as the Colorado Crossroads USAV Qualifier in Denver and Asics Show-Me USAV Qualifier in Kansas City.
Members of the Premier 17 Black team are Blakely Anderson, Tatum Kuti, Cora McCord, Nicole Meyer, Elise Volk, Brooklyn Hundt, Lauren Maciejewski, Alyssa Meisenbach, Makena Sobczyk and Taylor Wedemeyer.
