SubscribeThis coming weekend brings the seventh edition of Kokoro Volleyball’s Big City Luau volleyball tournament. With over 300 teams competing across all age levels in 2017, this year’s event looks to provide just as much competition across the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul region. Over 20 locations will provide the sites for all competition for the two-day event. Among the prep age groups from U15-U18, the BCL will several divisions. At the U15 age group, the Silver division has 52 teams competing while U16 Silver has 48 teams set to begin action on Saturday. The U17 Silver division will see 40 teams in action while U18 Silver will feature 16 teams. Gold divisions are also being offered by combining age groups in U15/U16 Gold and u17/U18 Gold with 34 and 40 teams competing respectively.
Champions from the 2017 event include (division/club):
- U17/U18 Gold – Ignit 17U Blue
- U17/U18 Silver – Club Tonka 18-1
- U15/U16 Gold – Kokoro 16-1
- 16 Silver – MN Select 15-3
- 15 Silver – M1 152
The U17/U18 Gold tournament will feature some of the areas finest prep volleyball talent. With North Country Region clubs such as Vital Volleyball, MN North, Stewie, SMV, Crossfire, MN Select and the host Kokoro competing, teams have an opportunity to lay claim as one of the best in the region early in the season after all is said and done. The following are a list of athletes that are certain to elevate the level of play this weekend:

- Dana Schindler (S/OH), Vital Volleyball 18-1 | College: Minnesota-Mankato
- Audrey Schumacher (OH/DS), MN Select 17-2 | College: Southwestern University
- Megan Walsh (OH), MN North 17-Navy | College: Texas-Arlington
