OMAHA – Neither Nebraska Elite 18 MOAB nor Premier 18 Gold finished their day with a win on Sunday, but both will start their Monday by playing in the 18 Open championship bracket at the Asics President’s Day Classic.
In Pool 1, Northern Lights 181 held off Premier 18 Gold 25-23, 23-25, 15-9 in the final match of the day in that pool. Meanwhile, in Pool 2, VCNebraska 18 Black took a 27-25, 25-23 win over Nebraska Elite 18 MOAB in the final match of that pool.
Even with the losses, Premier 18 Gold and Nebraska Elite 18 MOAB reached the six-team championship bracket. The top three teams in each pool advanced to the championship bracket. Premier 18 Gold finished second in its pool with a record of 5-1. Meanwhile, in Pool 2, VCNebraska 18 Black, Nebraska Elite 18 MOAB, Northern Lights 182 and CIA 18 Black all finished at 4-2. Based on tie-breakers, Elite MOAB finished second while VCNebraska finished fourth, just missing the championship bracket.
Also in Pool 1 of the 18 Open division, Nebraska Juniors 181 finished with a mark of 1-5.
Nebraska Elite 18 MOAB will face Topeka Impact 181 in the championship quarterfinals at 10 a.m. on Monday while Premier 18 Gold will take on CIA 18 Black at the same time.
