SubscribeWe are expanding our borders beyond Wisconsin in this section of players to watch with athletes from all states competing in the Mizuno Showcase at the Dells. All of these athletes are still available having not given their verbal or signed on to the next level. There are even some Class of 2020 prospects that are playing up that are definitely worth taking an extra look at.
Rachel Aasby – OH – Lourdes Academy – Wisconsin Volleyball Academy 17 Black
Class of 2019
Aasby is from the Class of 2019 and is a threat to score from any position on the court. Very dynamic and a solid in the backrow, Aasby uses the block, rolls over the block, and can hammer down when the situation presents itself. On her high school team she has been a key All State player in back to back state runner up finishes.
Tayler Alden – S – Oconomowoc – VC United 18 Elite 1
Class of 2020
Alden is the Prep Dig Wisconsin #1 prospect in the Class of 2020. An All State setter that is near six feet tall and left handed she has the ability to score with her distribution or as an attacker on second contact. She is a key player in the rise of the newly formed club VC United. Alden’s older sister Lexi, will be an outside hitter at Loyola (Chicago) this Fall.
Chynna Bacchus – S/OH – Univ. School of Milwaukee – Motion 17 Blue
Class of 2019
Bacchus is quite an athlete with the ability to set and hit from the pin. Motion has been playing with a lot of momentum lately and took the 18s championship in the Dells over Presidents Day.
Paige Brandenburg – OH – Wausau West – Wisconsin Ice 18 National
Class of 2019
One of the top players from Northern Wisconsin, Brandenburg is an underrated outside that plays for Ice out of Wausau. Wisconsin Ice 18 National has been a highly competitive team out of the Great Lakes Power League PM Shift and has been putting together a solid season. She can be a steal out of the gateway to the “North Woods” of Wisconsin.
Tyra Burton – OH – SPVB Kahl
Class of 2018
Burton is a 6’0 OH touching 10 feet. That combined with intensity and training of Sports Performance makes her a late pick up on the pin.
Carlee Dove – MB – Dike-New Hartford – Six Pack VB
Class of 2019
Six Pack out of Cedar Falls has been a mainstay producing some high level talent that have gone on to very successful college careers. Dove has been a part of championship upon championships at the high school level in Iowa where Dike New Hartford has been a volleyball power house while having about 300-400 students in their whole school. At 6’3, Dove has always received strong coaching and has competed day in and day out against top competition.
Lydia Lange – MB/OH – Caledonia – V-Hawk Xtreme 18 National
Class of 2020
Lange is long, athletic, and plays so high above the net. She plays for an 18s team and I often times forget she is playing at a level two higher than what she could be. With the Division 2 power in Minnesota, she will be a solid get, but I believe could play at the Division 1 level with her athletic ability and the best of her volleyball is still ahead of her. She is well coached at V-Hawk and will continue to develop in the middle or the pin.
Selena Levendoski – MB – Clayton – MN Select 17-1
Class of 2019
Levendoski is a strong physical player who is a bit undersized at the middle for the Division 1 level, however her high school team won a state title in Wisconsin and Levendoski was a 2nd Team All-State player. However, she is also a standout on the basketball court and Clayton will be playing in the Sectionals Thursday and if they win, they will play to go to state Saturday. She might have to pull some double duty. She is an athlete and she knows how to win.
Marissa Kleman – MB – La Crosse Logan – V-Hawk Xtreme 18 National
Class of 2020
Leman is the other 2020 prospect playing for V-Hawk 18’s and with a very physical middle. This will be a huge year for growth with Leman playing two levels up, but she has the physicality and athletic ability to compete against other top players in her division. And remember….she has two more years to develop.
Sarah Malone – L – Waunakee – Capital Adidas 17
Class of 2019
Malone is flat out solid when it comes to her backrow play. She reads well, puts up a great second ball, and is in the right position. I compare her to a shortstop in baseball that isn’t flashy, but always makes the routine play. She is dependable and a teammate you can tell her teammates trust which is what you want in all liberos.
Sopheea Mink – MB/OH – DeForest – Capital Adidas 17
Class of 2019
Mink has exploded onto the club scene this year starting out as a middle blocker, but she can touch 10’4, extremely springy and an incredibly high ceiling. Mink may be playing on the pin for Capital and with her jumping ability and athletic ability the result of that could be scary good. Mink is definitely one to keep an eye on and could elevate even higher in our rankings as an outside.
Nicole Martin – OH – Greendale – Motion 17 Blue
Class of 2019
Martin is strong and physical on the outside. She has been playing in the state tournament the past three years for Greendale High School and will looking to make a fourth appearance as a Senior. Playing on winning teams is something that adds value to a prospect because they can bring that edge and attitude to the next level.
Gabby Murray – MB/OPP – Xavier High School – Wisconsin Volleyball Academy 17 Black
Class of 2019
Murray can play anywhere on the front row. Her strongest attribute is her huge block and high reach which makes her such a solid prospect in the middle or on the right side. The physicality of her game has really improved and will continue to improve at the next level. A solid student, high IQ (on and off the court), Murray is a solid get at the D1/D2 level.
Olivia Olson – S – New Holstein – Wisconsin Volleyball Academy 17 Black
Class of 2019
Olson is right at six feet tall running a 5-1 for WVA 17 Black. For her high school team she is an outside hitter, which is just a snapshot of how athletic she is. She is smart, savy, and a great all around player. She puts up a nice block on the right side and can be very offensive in the front row scoring points from anywhere on the court.
Bailey Neuberger – OH – Marshall – Capital Adidas 17
Class of 2019
Neuberger is a solid athlete on the outside for Capital, which always produces solid all around players. She is extremely dominate on the high school ranks in the Madison area and is a great point scorer for Capital in the front row. The Capital 17 Adidas team is so fun to watch playing with lots of intensity and energy, being extremely well coached by Quinn Lukens.
Elle Shult – MB – Oconomowoc – VC United 18-1
Class of 2019
Shult was a key member in Oconomowoc’s solid season which results in a number one ranking and a state semifinal appearance. She is getting great training at VC United and is continuing to get reps with setter Tayler Alden. Put her on the radar of players to watch that will continue to develop and look for a breakout high school season from her as well.
Holly Baierl – MB – Luxemburg-Casco – Wisconsin Volleyball Academy 17 Red
Class of 2020
Baierl is a Class of 2020 prospect on the rise playing up on the 17-2’s team of WVA. Baierl got a taste of the big stage this year when was on on the Luxemburg-Casco state runner up team this past Fall.
