SubscribeYou would be hard pressed to find a more well-rounded volleyball player in the state than Minden sophomore Jensen Rowse of VCNebraska.
Last season for the Whippets, Rowse had one of the highest kill totals in the state with 536, which brought her career total up to 800 after just two seasons. She might also have one of the best serves in the state and during her sophomore season she had an astonishing ace-to-error ratio of 59:14 while serving at a 96.4 percentage.
Rowse also had 406 digs for Minden, where her father Ed is the coach and older sister Ali was an all-state setter. Jensen, however, is blazing her own path and is just getting started with the recruiting process.
I’m not very far into the recruiting process. I’m still a sophomore so I’m in the process of contacting coaches and will continue to do so,” Rowse said. “The most important thing is academics and then finding a good volleyball program that fits me. I’m pretty open minded as of right now. I’ll be narrowing down my choices with time.”
About the only thing Rowse doesn’t have going for her as an attacker is her height. At 5’8, Rowse isn’t likely to get on the radar of a lot of Division I programs, but she will definitely find a home at a place that values her ability to be a weapon anywhere on the floor.
“Nebraska Wesleyan has shown some interest. I haven’t been on any visits yet,” Rowse said. “I’m not on much of a timeline for committing. As long as I find a college that fits academically and athletically.”
