SubscribeGreen Bay Power held their final tournament of the season with Green Bay Fest at the Sports Advantage Center in Ashwaubenon. Green Bay Power is a club that has sometimes three at each level, consisting of plenty of players who compete in the Fox River Classic Conference as well as pulling from Door County, the Fox Valley, and areas North of Green Bay. There is plenty of hidden talent in the area and here are a few hidden gems that were playing this past weekend.
Averi Vomastic – Fusao 18 Azul – Shawano – Outside Hitter
Class of 2018 – Committed to Rockhurst
One of the most dynamic and strongest athletes in the gym, Vomastic is ready to take her game to the next level at Rockhurst which is in Kansas City. With her ability to play six rotations or as a solid defender she is an all around player that was key for the emergence of Shawano High School when she had 266 kills and just under 200 digs. Vomastic has her best volleyball ahead of her and further proves the talent that is in Northeast Wisconsin.
Ayona Johnson – Fusao 18 Azul – Madison LaFollette – MB/OH
Class of 2019
Johnson is a powerful and physical middle blocker for Fusao which is out of the Madison area. With the ability to play on the pin, run the middle, and take off on one foot there are plenty of options for Johnson to score. Johnson is also a solid defender at the net, putting up a large block. She still has one more year at Madison LaFollette and definitely has the physical tools to be an asset at the next level.
Halle Grulke – Fusao 18 Azul – Hustiford – RS/Setter
Class of 2018 – Committed to Lake Superior State
Incredibly dynamic. Watching Grulke play, she has the poise, athleticism, and skill to compete at the next level. Lake Superior State is in Sault St. Marie, MI and is only miles away from Canada playing in the GLIAC which is an extremely tough volleyball conference with the likes of Grand Valley State and Ferris State. Grulke has the ability to set or hit and is also a solid defender at the net and in the backrow.
Abi Vomastic – Green Bay Power 16 Green – Shawano – MB/RS
Class of 2020
There will still be a Vomastic on the court for Shawano this Fall with Abi Vomastic heading into her Junior year. Vomastic is long, athletic, and very dynamic with the ability to play at any pin position. In the middle she can move quickly laterally, but can also put a large block up on the right side. Her potential and ceiling are incredibly high. With continuous training, Vomastic has the tools to be a college level players with her ability to play multiple front row positions.
Robyn Kirsch – Wisconsin Ice 15 Purple – Wausau West – OH
Class of 2020
Kirsch has been a consistent force for Wisconsin Ice all year from seeing her play at the Midwest Showcase in the Wisconsin Dells in February, Badger Region in March, and this past weekend in Green Bay. Kirsch is very athletic and aggressive, she plays with no fear and is the type of player that always keeps her team in the game. She will be a go to player for Wausau West on the outside this Fall.
Madison Neuman – Green Bay Power 16 Silver – Green Bay Preble – Setter
Class of 2020
Neuman may not be very tall at 5’6, but she has a great release and location on her sets for Green Bay Power Silver. There were also plays defensively that were very solid and she was even able to take it over on the second contact with her left hand. Very scrappy and fun player to watch.
Amber Aalsma – Green Bay Power 16 Silver – De Pere – RS/OH
Class of 2020
De Pere is always full of athletes and is the last Division 1 team out of the Fox River Conference to make it to the state tournament. With a program that always competes, Aalsma can be the next one to step in, along with middle blocker Briana Geurts of De Pere who is playing for FC Elite 15 as a middle. With a high touch, Aalsma can put the ball away or be up for a solid block.
Kendra Dantoin – Green Bay Power 16 Green – Southern Door – OH
Class of 2020
It didn’t take long to see Dantoin standout for Green Bay Power 16 Green. She is your typical outside hitter that can hit hard, hit shots, and play all the way around. There are definitely tools that she has yet to find for her game, but with continuous training and development she has the potential to be in the conversation for top outsider hitters in her class for Northeast Wisconsin.
Aubree Bucheger – Green Bay Power 16 Green – Oconto- OH
Class of 2020
Firepower and mighty mouse. Bucheger plays with a ton of intensity whether she is in the front or backrow. An undersized outside hitter, Bucheger has the shot smarts along with the vertical and power to make a swing, but she is extremely gritty in the backrow. Bucheger will be a solid 1-2 punch with Oconto outside hitter Cora Behnke this Fall as Oconto will be looking for a deep post season run.
Emily Lange – Green Bay Power 18 Green – Ashwaubenon – MB/OH
Class of 2019
Ashwaubenon is starting to making a surge in the FRCC and its no secret their go to player is Maddie Koch, an outside hitter who has committed to Purdue, but with any great team a supporting cast is needed. Emily Lange will be one of the players for Ashwaubenon looking to make an impact. She is able to put up a solid block, but can also score points from the middle or right side. The senior class for the Jaguars will be fully loaded ready to play some very meaningful games mid to late October.
