If you’re not going to be playing at a Power 5 school at the Division I level – as is the case with 99% of players – these camps give you the best and most realistic opportunity to get recruited. Not only do these camps give you a chance to perform and compete in front of college coaches, but it also gives college coaches a chance to see how coachable you are and how you handle situations. These camps are where a lot of college coaches find their future players.
Division I
Omaha
When you look across the country at mid-major programs with the potential to burst onto the national scene, Omaha is at the top of that list. With an incredible facility like Baxter Arena and the fact that it has only been postseason eligible for a couple years at the Division I level, Omaha is as up-and-coming of a Division I program as there is in the nation.
This is a program which took a set last year from both Kansas State and Northern Iowa and had eventual national champion Nebraska on the ropes in the first set in front of a huge crowd at Baxter Arena. In the past three seasons, it has wins over Missouri Valley programs Bradley and Evansville and came thissssssssss close to reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2015 when it lost in a five-set thriller to Denver for the Summit League title.

Concordia University
New Concordia coach Ben Boldt – along with wife Angie – have taken over in Seward. Bolt possesses extensive experience (14 years) at the NCAA Division I level. He got his start as a student coach and manager at Nebraska where he was part of a national championship team in 2006. He moved onto the University of Alabama as an assistant for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. His next journey took him to the University of Iowa for five years in Iowa City, where he worked specifically with liberos and middle blockers and was promoted to recruiting coordinator in 2012. He also spent one season apiece assisting volleyball teams at the University of Arkansas (2014) and Iowa Western Community College (2015).

Doane College
It didn’t take Gwen Egbert long to turn Doane into a national power in volleyball. She started at Doane in the 2013 season following an outstanding high school coaching career at Papillion-LaVista and Papillion-LaVista South High Schools. She was named the Lincoln Journal Star Coach-of-the-Year in 2002 and 2012 while earning the Omaha World Herald honor in 2003.
At the high school level, Egbert posted a record of 700-223 with six Class A State Championships, including titles each of the last three years. Her teams also took runner-up honors on seven occasions. Egbert’s squads made the championship game of the Class A Tournament in 13 of their 17 appearances.
Prior to the start of her coaching career, Egbert played volleyball at the University of Nebraska under Coach Terry Pettit. After two years at Kellogg Community College in Michigan, Egbert transferred to Nebraska where she was a member of two Big 8 championship teams. She was selected a team captain her senior year and was named First Team All-Big 8. The team also made their first NCAA National Tournament appearance that year. The past three seasons, Doane has average 20+ wins a year.
