<p>Wisconsin sent 13 teams to compete in Anaheim in April, with 6 teams in the 4 Qualifying divisions and 7 teams in the non-qualifying Patriot Division. Part 5 is a quick recap of how 7 Badger Region teams did in the USAV 18s Junior National Championships while competing in the Patriot Division. </p>
<p><strong><u>PATRIOT DIVISION</u></strong></p>
<p><strong>V-HAWK XTREME 18-NATIONAL – FINISHED 5<sup>TH</sup> OUT OF 100</strong></p>
<p>V-Hawk had a pretty young 18-National group this season, but that didn't slow them down one bit. They started out Friday morning (4/27) with a loss to Brandywine Blackout 18-1 (17-25, 18-25) but bounced back to win their next two pool play matches against Momentous 18-2 Rich (25-20, 25-18) and SVVC 18-Cory (25-7, 25-16). V-Hawk went 2-1 in their Friday pool, which placed them 2<sup>nd</sup> in their pool and sent them to Pool 7 for Day 2.</p>
<p>Saturday morning (4/28), V-Hawk took 1<sup>st</sup> in their pool with wins over FORZA 1 North 18 NATIONAL (25-13, 22-25, 15-11), SEATTLE JRS 18 (25-12, 20-25, 15-13), and IV Force 18-Kim (25-18, 25-10). Their solid finish in the Saturday pool brought them back for the Challenge G Bracket Saturday evening, where they added another 2 wins to their super Saturday of play. They swept their bracket with wins against A4 Volley 18-Black (26-24, 25-18) and WAVE 18 Sean (25-17, 25-22).</p>
<p>Winning the Challenge G Bracket on Saturday set V-Hawk up to compete in the Gold Bracket on Sunday. They started out Sunday morning with a loss to KJ 18 Baden (17-25, 18-25). KJ 18 Baden went on to place 2<sup>nd</sup> overall. V-Hawk finished their season with a 29-18 record playing in California, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. <p><strong>WVA 18-RED – FINISHED 48<sup>TH</sup> OUT OF 100</strong></p>
<p>WVA 18-Red also had a pretty young group this season, but they still took on the tough WVA 18s schedule. They started out Friday afternoon (4/27) with a win against Genuine Elite 18 Aaron S (25-0, 25-0). WVA then battled but lost to a tough Forza1West 18Under Armour team (28-30, 25-21, 10-15). </p>
<p>They ended pool play with a barn-burning win against CHV 18 Cherry (25-17, 19-25, 15-13). WVA ended their Friday pool with a 2-1 record, placing them 2<sup>nd</sup>. Saturday (4/28) they struggled in pool play, taking 3 straight losses to Brandywine Blackout (17-25, 17-25), Storm VBC 18's-Tsunami (14-25, 15-25), and AVA TX 18 Attack (15-25, 13-25). This gave them a 4<sup>th</sup> place finish in their Saturday pool.</p>
<p>Sunday morning WVA took another loss to VCVC Girls Janee (19-25, 21-25) in the Flight 2B Bracket. This gave WVA a 2-5 record for the weekend and a 48<sup>th</sup> finish. WVA had a tough season playing in California, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Good luck to those continuing their playing careers in the fall!</p>

<p>This Next Level team had a good mix of 2018 and 2019 grads this year. They started on Friday morning (4/27) with a dominant win against Pursuit 18 Buckeyes (25-10, 25-8). Next Level dropped the next 2 matches in pool play to NorCal 18 Black (21-25, 15-25) and Laguna Beach 18MS (17-25, 20-25). They ended their Friday pool with a 1-2 record and 3<sup>rd</sup> place finish.</p>
<p>Saturday afternoon (4/28) Next Level took care of business in their pool beating Rise 18 Joe (17-25, 25-20, 15-10), Santa Monica 18 Premier (25-10, 25-19), and LVBC 18-1 (25-22, 25-17). Their 1<sup>st</sup> place finish in their Saturday pool put them in Flight 3A Bracket, where they dropped their first match to Goldenwest 18 Black (21-25, 18-25). Next Level finished with a 4-3 record and a 57<sup>th</sup> place finish out of 100 teams. Next Level had a long season playing in California, Illinois, and Wisconsin. <p>RVA G18 Navy is another team that had a good mix of 2018 and 2019 grads this year. They started on Friday afternoon (4/27) dropping a pair of matches to SAVC 18- Legends Rodante (20-25, 14-25) and 303VBA 18 Alpha (20-25, 12-25). RVA finished its pool play with a win against 951 Elite 18-2 (25-17, 25-17). They ended their Friday pool with a 1-2 record and 3<sup>rd</sup> place finish.</p>
<p>Saturday afternoon (4/28) RVA made a strong start with wins against Club OC 18-Maroon (25-13, 25-16) and Epic 18-Black (16-25, 25-8, 15-11). They dropped their last match of the day in a barn-burner to Miz LB 18 Rockstar L (17-25, 25-18, 13-15) but managed to be tied for 1<sup>st</sup> place and take the 1<sup>st</sup> place pool finish by a tie-breaker. Their first place finish in the Saturday pool put them in Flight 3A, where they dropped their first match to Goldenwest 18 Black (25-13, 25-15). RVA finished with a 3-4 record and a 61<sup>st</sup> place finish out of 100 teams. </p>

<p>Capital 18 Navy was not messing around with their schedule this year. Their roster includes recruits from 2018, 2019, and 2020 and they competed in the GLPL, Qualifiers and big tournaments in the Midwest. They started their Friday afternoon (4/27) with a loss to LAVA North 18 Black (17-25, 12-25). </p>
<p>Capital finished its pool play with a couple losses against Supernova 18 Morgan (25-17, 25-17) and Central Cal Sr. Select18-1 (14-25, 18-25). They ended their Friday pool with a 1-2 record and 3<sup>rd</sup> place finish. On Saturday afternoon (4/28), Capital started their 2<sup>nd</sup> round of pool play with a loss to SCVC 17/18Roxy (15-25, 25-22, 11-15).</p>
<p>Capital got things cooking again and ended their Saturday pool with wins against Southport G18-Blue (25-19, 25-16) and Ignite 18 Elite (25-18, 25-18). They tied for 1st in their pool with a 2-1 record and, by tie-breaking procedure, advanced to Flight 3A Bracket. On Sunday morning (4/29), Capital dropped its first match to LAVA South 18 Adidas (16-25, 18-25). </p>
<p>Capital had a 3-4 record for the weekend and took 61<sup>st</sup> place out of 100 teams. Capital went 36-31 during a long and tough schedule this season playing in California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Wisconsin. <p>Epic 18-Black is made up of 2018 and 2019 grads, but they held their own at some of the toughest tournaments in the Midwest. They struggled in some battles on Friday afternoon (4/27) with losses to Legacy 18-Select (24-26, 19-25), Sunshine 18 South Bay (24-26, 15-25), and Rancho Valley 18Select (24-26, 25-27). Epic's 0-3 record gave them a 4<sup>th</sup> place finish in their Friday pool.</p>
<p>On Saturday afternoon (4/28), Epic started their 2<sup>nd</sup> round of pool play with a win against Miz LB 18 Rockstar L (25-18, 22-25, 15-10). After that fight, Epic dropped their next match to RVA G18 Navy (25-16, 8-25, 11-15). Epic ended their pool on Saturday with a win against Club OC 18-Maroon (23-25, 25-14, 15-12). Their 2-1 record put them in a 3-way tie for first, but thru tie-breaking procedure, they ended up in 3<sup>rd</sup> place, putting them in the Flight 5B Bracket.</p>
<p>Sunday (4/29) was Epic's big day. They started their bracket play with wins against BCVC 18 Platinum (25-22, 25-15) and IV Force 17-Heather (25-10, 25-20). In the bracket championship, Epic beat Encore 18 Navy (25-23, 25-19). Epic had a 5-4 record and took 77<sup>th</sup> place out of 100 teams. So far, Epic has a 40-28 record playing in California, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Epic has 2 more tournaments this season, including the 2018 Juniors Grand Slam (Wisconsin) in May and the Asics Jr National Volleyball Championships (Illinois) in June. <p>Southport G18-Blue is a young squad consisting of only 3 from the 2018 class and the rest are all from the class of 2019. They struggled on Friday morning (4/27) with losses to Diablo Black 18-1 (21-25, 25-22, 10-15), SCVC 18Roxy (10-25, 13-25), and COAST 18-3 (21-25, 19-25). Southport's 0-3 record gave them a 4<sup>th</sup> place finish in their Friday pool.</p>
<p>On Saturday afternoon (4/28), Southport battled in their 2<sup>nd</sup> round of pool play but yet again came up short against Ignite 18 Elite (17-25, 24-26), Capital 18 Navy (19-25, 16-25) and SCVC 17/18Roxy (15-25, 25-19, 12-25). Their 0-3 record put them in 4<sup>th</sup> place, putting them in the Flight 6B Bracket.</p>
<p>On Sunday (4/29), Southport started their bracket play losing a barn-burner to WEST 18 BLACK (25-21, 16-25, 13-25). They had an 0-7 record and took 93<sup>rd</sup> place out of 100 teams. </p>
<p>Southport competed in California, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. While this season might have been tough, watch out, they should have plenty back for next year. Good luck to those continuing to play at the next level next fall.</p>
