Twenty-one central Wisconsin varsity teams are competing in the Marathon Summer League each Monday. While any given week you could be missing players to vacation or camps, it sure does make things interesting. Here is a breakdown of some of the top teams competing this year. We will continue to check on the teams in this league and update you on any upsets!
Stratford – Division 3
Last year Stratford was out to make a statement and didn’t drop many matches in this league. They went 5-1 in
[player_tooltip player_id="33047" first="Mazie" last="Nagel"]regular league play last year. They won a share of the Marawood South Conference title and made their first state appearance. Stratford lost their long time middle blocker, Makayla Kroll (UW-Oshkosh), and their defensive duo of Olympia Garrigan and Madison Daul. They are, however, returning big time key players looking to make strong senior campaigns:

Mosinee – Division 2
Mosinee was another strong competitor last year. They went 7-2 in league and then carried over to win the Great Northern Conference title. Mosinee lost last season in the sectional semi-final to a strong Merrill team. They lost key senior hitters Sophie Kamke Sophie Kamke 5'8" | OH Mosinee | 2018 State WI , Miranda Dux, Christina Wyman, and libero Brooke Wierzbanowski Brooke Wierzbanowski 5'4" | DS/L Mosinee | 2018 State WI . Mosinee has a strong crew returning to defend their conference title:

Sydni Gburek – 2019 – 5’3” – Setter/Outside Hitter
Ally Miller – 2019 – 5’1” – Defensive Specialist

Wausau West – Division 1
West went 8-0 in regular league play last year. West has only lost 1 of their setters, Ieden Sheehan, and their
defensive specialist, Karissa Kroll. They do have some stellar returnees coming back to raise the bar:
