With the graduation of the 2018 class, our stat leaders in the state of Wisconsin could definitely change. Wisconsin graduated some really lethal hitters, but we also have many ready to take their places at the top of the leaderboards. Since the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association (WVCA), and most conferences require stats and results be entered into MaxPreps, we use the MaxPreps Wisconsin stat leaderboards to gather this information. If your high school coaches don’t already use MaxPreps, please encourage them to do so! Here are a few players that I believe will have big 2018 campaigns to raise their stock!

[player_tooltip player_id="10220" first="Hannah" last="Vanden Berg"] – 2019 – 5’11” – Pin Hitter – Little Chute – FC Elite 17 Navy – Committed to Marquette

Vander Berg had led the state of Wisconsin (via MaxPreps) with 741 kills in 2017. She helped Little Chute to a 34-5 record and 2nd place in the North Eastern Conference. After losing 3 seniors, Little Chute will be fighting for a conference title and trip to the Resch Center. In 2019 Vanden Berg will join [player_tooltip player_id="9264" first="Claire" last="Mosher"] and [player_tooltip player_id="9270" first="Katie" last="Schoessow"] as Golden Eagles at Marquette.

[player_tooltip player_id="10260" first="Keri" last="Walker"] – 2019 – 6’0” – Middle Blocker/Setter – Living Word Lutheran – Wisconsin Premier 18 Teal – Not Committed

Walker has been a key piece to Living Word’s team since her freshman season. She has led them to winning seasons and is very versatile. She has nice hands, great placement, and court awareness as a setter. She is a strong blocker and runs smart routes with a heavy swing in the middle. Walker has already surpassed the 1,000 kills mark and will be fighting to get into the top 3 of the tough Midwest Classic Conference (more on this conference coming soon). Can she top her 2017 season where she had a .426 hitting efficiency and 558 kills? I think so, and I can’t wait to see what college gets her on their roster.

[player_tooltip player_id="33056" first="Chloe" last="Tome"] – 2019 – 5’9” – Outside Hitter – Wauwatosa East – Milwaukee Sting 17 Silver - Not Committed

Beach or hard court, Tome finds a way. Tome has impressive experience competing in beach doubles. She has scrappy defense, a heavy swing to split defenders and cut angles, and smart knuckle shots to the deep corners. Unlike many of our aspiring indoor volleyball recruits, Tome is looking to play Beach Volleyball in college. In 2017 she hit an impressive .408 and 383 kills that puts her among the ranks of players much taller.

[player_tooltip player_id="10242" first="Laura" last="Shoopman"] – 2019 – 6’2” – Middle Blocker/Pin Hitter – Westosha Central – Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold – Committed to Oral Roberts

A year from now, Shoopman will be preparing to head to Oral Roberts as the lone Wisconsinite. But this year she will be preparing to fight for a conference title in the Southern Lakes Conference after finishing 2nd behind Waterford in 2017. After graduating just 1 senior, Central will also be gunning for a trip to the Resch Center after falling just short in 2017. Shoopman led her team in 2017 with 537 kills and will look to continue as a go-to player.

Chloe Buescher – 2019 – 6’0” – Outside Hitter – Milton – Not Committed

Milton had a solid 31-10 record in 2017 and Buescher was a big part of that. She led her team with 352 digs, 338 kills and a solid .404 hitting efficiency. Milton will be gunning for a conference championship after taking 2nd behind Watertown in the Badger-South Conference in 2017 (more on this conference coming soon).

[player_tooltip player_id="10222" first="Maddie" last="Koch"] – 2019 – 6’2” – Outside Hitter – Ashwaubenon – WVA 18 Black – Committed to Purdue

Koch comes from a basketball family. Her father and brothers all played in college, but by fluke, she found her way to volleyball and the rest is history. Ashwaubenon finished in the middle of the pack in conference play last year, but they want more from the tough Fox River Classic conference. In 2017 Koch led her team with 501 kills and 48 solo blocks. If Koch has a repeat season of last year or better, she will join the elite 1,000 kill club.

[player_tooltip player_id="10329" first="Aubrey" last="Hamilton"] – 2020 – 6’2” – Pin Hitter – Arrowhead – Milwaukee Sting 16 Gold – Committed to Notre Dame

Hamilton is following in her mother’s footsteps to Notre Dame (standout basketball player from Milwaukee Pius), and with committing before her sophomore season, she is now able to focus on making a run for a state title. Arrowhead will be gunning for the conference title after going 7-1, tying for first with Oconomowoc in the 2017 season. Last season, Hamilton led Arrowhead with 504 kills, 329 digs, and kept an impressive 98% of her serves in play. Hamilton will likely pass the 1,000 kill mark in 2018 and pile up the awards and recognitions while helping lead her team deep into the post-season.

[player_tooltip player_id="33053" first="Jolie" last="Larson"] – 2019 – 6’0” – Middle Blocker/Setter – The Prairie School – WI Juniors 17-1’s - Not Committed

Larson tallied a solid 308 kills and .391 hitting efficiency in 2017 to lead the Hawks to 2nd place finish in the Metro Classic Conference behind Catholic Central. Larson is a player that can do it all, as she also tallied 50 aces, 73 blocks, 258 digs, and 400 assists. Prairie will be a contender for a conference title in 2018, and Larson will be a key piece.
