Rochester Century Pathers vs. Kasson Mantorville Komets:
A strong Pather squad will host the Komets at 7 p.m. in what is sure to be great match. Leading the way for the Pathers will be junior, Nicole Lund. At 6’1” look for Century to use her height and power to establish the middle attack right away. Lund has been a key player for the last few years helping her team to climb to the top of the Big 9. By her side is junior Rachel Fink. Although much shorter than her teammate at 5’8”, Fink is a tenacious player whose athleticism and finesse are unmatched by other players her age. Look for Fink to be a primary passer along with Adrienne Anderson and Mina Wimmer.
Kasson will do their best to defend against these threats; the bond of family may be their main advantage. They have the sister duo: outside hitter Caroline Braun (senior) and setter Anna Braun (sophmore) as well as the Suess sisters: Peyton (senior) and Mya (sophmore). All-state player Peyton will attend and play at Wake Forest when she graduates. She has helped Kasson earn their place in as one the premiere teams in southern Minnesota. Head coach, Adam VanOort’ has developed so many strong players including his daughter Noelle VanOort (sophmore). It looks to be another great season for VanOort and his tight-knit group.
These are two teams who are sure to entertain fans all season long.
