Minnesota Match-up: 2A

<p>   Teams have been ranked for the preseason and those named are ready to demonstrate why they've been chosen; likewise, others have been anxiously waiting to prove they can contend with the top in the state.  Players have been working all summer long to improve and fans can't wait to see what they will bring.</p> <p><strong>2A, Week 1; Thursday, August 23, 2018</strong>:</p> <p><i>Marhsall Tigers</i> vs. <em>Wilmar Cardinals:  </em></p> <p>      The southern part of the state has become a premiere location for young players.  Marshall is no stranger to the scene and we can't wait for their hitters to step on the court.  Leading the way: <strong>Erica Jones</strong>, <strong>Paige Andries</strong>, and <strong>Jordyn Hilgemann</strong>.  This trio will be hard to stop with their fast offense are smart ball placement.</p> <p>    Facing off against these big hitters will be the height and defense of Wilmar.  The 6'1'' senior, <strong>Carly Wedel</strong>, who has verbally committed to South Dakota State University, will have a strong presence at the net.  Her fast blocking footwork may be a challenge for the setters and hitters of Marshall.  If any hits get past Wedel, libero <strong>Callie Slagter</strong> will be ready to scoop them up.  While Slagter is only a sophmore, she has shown she has good court sense and a solid platform.  Her defense will help the Cardinals Thursday.</p> <p>If you are in the area, head to Marshall to watch the match or be sure to look up scores Friday!</p>
