SubscribeThe Southeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschool Association (SWCHA) is a unique team full of extremely talented athletes. While they don’t compete through the WIAA they do participate in local tournaments as an independent team as well as travel across the country in their short season to compete in regional and national tournaments. Athletes travel from across the state to play for SWCHA including from as far north as Fond Du Lac, and out west to Mukwonago and East Troy.
Over the last 10 years, the team has continued to grow and develop and in 2017 had the highest finishes in their competitions ever. Locally, they placed first in the Brown Deer High School tournament and third in the Prairie School tournament. On a regional and national level, they compete in the National Christian Homeschool Volleyball Championships (NCHVC). They won both Division III Midwest Championships held in Missouri and Indiana. They went on to take third place at the National Championships held in Omaha, Nebraska. The SWCHA season runs parallel to the WIAA season so they had some big wins in only a matter of a couple months.
Through all of these wins they relied on some key athletes as leaders both on and off of the court.
Toria Schein (Senior, Libero, Uncommitted) – A strong passer with textbook form, this girl can pass. She is the base of the team and her passion for volleyball is enormous. Every time she steps on the court she is having fun and playing to the best of her ability.
Kierra Koepke (Senior, Outside Hitter, Uncommitted) – A 6 rotation outside hitter who combines power and control. Her consistency in the back row along with her ability to put down a powerful hit make her a huge factor in the wins for the SWCHA Saints.
Chloee Epker (Sophomore, Setter, Uncommitted) – 2018 will be her second year on varsity. As a freshman she stepped into a massive leadership role. She has great hands, is a leader on the court, and is an amazing asset to the Saints team.
Skylar Kumprey (Junior, Outside Hitter, Uncommitted) – Skylar is a powerful outside with a great vertical. She can practically jump out of the gym and has developed over her years on the SWCHA team. She has a great line shot and is able to hit a variety of shots consistently.
Kyah Golding (Junior, Middle, Uncommitted) – Kyah is a force to be reckoned with. While the Saints have struggled in the past with the middle hitter position both Kyah and Siobhan (below) filled this role in amazing fashion! Kyah is powerful and reads the court well.
Siobhan Dittmer (Senior, Middle, Uncommitted) – Siobhan is a powerful hitter who can it the 10 foot line! She is a great all around athlete who excels in the middle hitter position. A great volleyball player and leader, Siobhan will be a great mentor to younger teammates in her senior year.
This coming season should be exciting for the SWCHA Saints! They hope to repeat their titles and add the national title to their long list of accomplishments. Additionally, they are looking to place first in their local tournament at Catholic Memorial High School. Best of luck and safe travels to the Saints as the embark on their season!
