Setter Spotlight: Dresden Pass
This Minnetonka setter deserves the spotlight this week. Dresden Pass a 5’9” senior, also goes by the nickname Dresi. She is a well-rounded player with a lot to offer.
Last year, she was selected to the All-Conference team in the Lake Conference. She has played for Northern Lights for the past six years. Dresi has started this year with a bang and looks to make the most of her senior year. Her team is currently 11-4 overall and 2-1 in conference. Some of those losses were against Lakeville, Wayzata, and Shakopee. Dresi currently averages 11.8 assists per set and has already tallied 423 assists for the season. There are so many great things to say about her, but we’ve summarized with the following five key points:
1- Effortless style: whether her team is up by 10 points or rallying from behind, Dresi doesn’t ever looked stressed. She maintains her exceptional setting form. Her hands are soft and her release is fast.
2- Precision and accuracy: her ability to place the sets with such precision makes her hitter’s job easier. She makes her teammates look great. You can give her a bad pass and she will turn it into something great.
3- Physical player: Dresi is an athletic 5’9’’. She is fast and will run down any ball sent her way. She is a strong player that can easily push the ball outside, dump and block.
4-Defense: Dresi’s team usually has her pull back on the line in the right back position when in the back row. Here she takes some of the opponent’s hardest hits. She reads the hitters well and is accustomed to passing to the libero/left back position to still maintain an offense with three hitters.
5- Academic Excellence: With a 3.8 grade point average Dresi is the ideal student-athlete. She has already learned how to manage a busy schedule with her academic responsibilities. Dresi has shown her love for volleyball and desire to continue her play into college, having signed up and posted highlight tapes on a series of recruiting websites.
Good luck to Dresi and her team this season. We know she will do all she can to make it a great one.
