Another big weekend full of fun tournaments. There are 2 in the Milwaukee area that are closely connected, with one serving as a qualifying tournament for the other. Keep the updates coming over the weekend! Make sure to follow updates on our Facebook page and tag @PrepDigWI with your results on twitter so we can retweet. Here are the 3 events in the spotlight this weekend

SPRAWL QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT – September 21st – 22nd

The Milwaukee Sting Center will host 24 teams this weekend for another 2-day tournament. There are a LOT of teams in this tournament looking to make a statement and get an entry into the big Lynn LaPorte Sprawl. There are a few ranked teams that I would love to see square off, such as Waunakee, Sheboygan North, Waukesha West, and Xavier. One good match-up we are guaranteed comes between Cedarburg and Wisconsin Lutheran. While being ranked, Cedarburg may be operating a bit under the radar, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them take it all the way through this weekend. Cedarburg is led by [player_tooltip player_id="56003" first="Kiara" last="Reinhardt"] (2020 – Committed to Creighton) who recorded a season high 7 blocks in their win over Slinger last week.

LYNN LAPORTE SPRAWL – September 21st – 22nd

The Sprawl has 24 teams competing, and most are highly ranked by Prep Dig. Let’s take a look at a few dark horses. In Pool D we have Appleton North led by [player_tooltip player_id="80719" first="Brooke" last="Bolwerk"] (2021 – 5’6 – Setter/Right Side), who recorded her fourth match with reaching her career high 3 aces and tallied a career high 22 assists last week in their 3-0 win over Oshkosh North.

In Pool E we have East Troy. and they will have their work cut out for them. They previously beat West Bend West at the Lancer Invite, but it took 3 sets. East Troy is led by Brianna Scuric (2019 – Committed to Northern Illinois), who recently matched a season high 18 kills and Mati Jakscht (2019 – 5’6 – Libero), who recorded a season high 25 digs in their 3-1 win over McFarland last week. Another key for the Trojans, [player_tooltip player_id="80176" first="Emily" last="Wendt"] (2020 – 5’9 – Setter), matched a career high 6 aces on Tuesday in their 3-0 win over Edgerton. Also in Pool E is Kimberly, who went 3-2 at the Charger Rally last weekend but has had some big wins recently against Neenah and Oconomowoc. Kimberly is led by Maddy Schreiber (2021 – Middle Blocker), who matched her career high of 4 blocks in 3 different matches this past week.
