Seniors Ready To Make Final Postseason Push

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tuesday is a big night for Iowa High School Volleyball.  With matches going on in 3A, 4A, and 5A, the sweet sixteen will be established in those classes with 1A and 2A heading into their regional semifinals later in the week.  With plenty of Seniors who have made themselves a household name, here are a few who will be looking to finish their career in Cedar Rapids one last time. </span></p> <p><strong>Bree Thompson - Janesville - Outside Hitter</strong></p> <p><strong>Uncommitted</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Thompson has made it a routine of playing the final day of the season with her teammates at Janesville the past few years and they will be looking to do the same this season.  Thompson is one of the top kill leaders in the state with over 500 kills. The Wildcats have played tough competition all season and have not lost a match to anyone in Class 1A. </span></p> <p><strong>Emily Holterhaus - Pella - Middle Blocker</strong></p> <p><strong>Committed to UNI</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Holterhaus is a strong all around athlete that can do a little bit of everything.  The Senior middle blocker who could also swing on the pin is going to be so dynamic at the next level for the Panthers.  So far this season Holterhaus is averaging 5.43 kills per set on a .409 hitting efficiency. </span></p> <p><strong>Madilynn Parson - Camanche - Outside Hitter</strong></p> <p><strong>Uncommitted</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Parson has been one of the leaders for Camanche since day one.  An all around six rotation outside as well as an all around athlete excelling in multiple sports, she is averaging 4.76 kills per set and has over 1,000 career kills for her career.  Camanche is currently ranked 7th in Class 3A and will play Anamosa in a Class 3A Regional Semifinal Tuesday night. </span></p> <p><strong>Maddy Baxter - Cedar Rapids Jefferson - Setter</strong></p> <p><strong>Committed to Drake</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Baxter and the J-Hawks are ready to get back to the US Cellular Center in their backyard for more.  After a state tournament appearance in 2017, Jefferson has captured another conference crown and are riding a wave of momentum.  Baxter is averaging just under 10 assists per set and has 235 digs on the year. Baxter will head to Drake University and compete in the MIssouri Valley Conference. </span></p> <p><strong>Rylie Olson - Osage - Setter</strong></p> <p><strong>Committed To Grand View</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Osage has reclaimed the tradition are going for their third consecutive state tournament appearance.  Rylie Olson has been the catalyst behind the offensive attack for the Green Devils, averaging just over 9 assists per set.  Osage will take on former North Iowa Conference rival Forest City, who won the Top of Iowa West Division while Osage is champions of the Top of Iowa East Division. </span></p> <p><strong>Payton Ahrenstorff - Spirit Lake - Libero</strong></p> <p><strong>Committed to UNI</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ahrenstorff has been the backbone of the defense for Spirit Lake, who has continued to rise in the ever so deep pool of talent that is Northwest Iowa.  In the last rankings, Spirit Lake was #14 with a 31-7 record. Ahrenstorff has 531 digs so far this season. Tonight they will take on Algona, with the winner facing MOC-FV (Orange City) or Sheldon with a trip to state on the line. </span></p> <p><strong>Aimee Adams - Carroll Kuemper - Middle Blocker </strong></p> <p><strong>Committed To South Dakota </strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kuemper has been a powerhouse the past few years and largely part to Aimee Adams and crew.  This year the Knights are 40-1 with their only loss coming to Council Bluffs St. Albert. With five players with over 100 kills on the season, Adams leads the charge with 345 kills on a .418 hitting efficiency.  Adams will be taking her game to the University of South Dakota, which has established a nice pipeline with four athletes from Iowa on their current roster.</span></p> <p>Photo Cred: Des Moines Register</p>
