Who Will Top The Big East?

<p><strong><u>BIG EAST VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT @ HOWARDS GROVE AND REEDSVILLE – October 13^th</u></strong></p> <p>There is nothing quite like a 14-team conference tournament!  Even better, among the top 4 teams, there are only 3 conference losses.  Here is what the Big East Conference standings look like:</p> <p>Team                                       Conference      Overall</p> <p>Howards Grove                       9-0                   26-7</p> <p>Oostburg                                 8-1                   22-8</p> <p>Hilbert                                     8-1                   24-7</p> <p>St. Mary Catholic                    8-1                   21-11</p> <p>Manitowoc Lutheran              6-3                   21-8</p> <p>Random Lake                          6-3                   20-14</p> <p>Mishicot                                  5-4                   9-15</p> <p>Cedar Grove-Belgium             4-5                   11-16</p> <p>Ozaukee                                  3-6                   12-20</p> <p>Reedsville                               3-7                   8-19</p> <p>Sheboygan Area Lutheran      2-7                   8-16</p> <p>Kohler                                     1-8                   4-27</p> <p>Sheboygan County Christian  1-8                   1-26</p> <p>Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah        0-10                 3-26</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>There is some serious tough competition at the top of this conference.  Hilbert has the super efficient <strong>Makaylee Kuhn</strong> (2019 – 5’11 – Middle Blocker/Setter/Outside Hitter), currently hitting an impressive .467 this season.  Random Lake may be tied for 5^th, but they are packing heat with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="80817" first="Mckenna" last="Armstrong"] </strong>(2021 – 5’11 – Middle Blocker).  Armstrong has been racking up the kills, averaging almost 4 per set and totaling 343 so far this season. </p> <p>Mckenna isn’t the only Armstrong for Random Lake. <strong>Leah Armstrong </strong>(2019 – 5’7 – Setter/Outside Hitter) leads the conference in assists, averaging 8 per set and totaling 699 assists.  If they don’t get the kill and the opponent manages to return the ball, they will have to find a way past <strong>Julia Debroux </strong>(2020 – 6’1 – Middle Blocker), who has an impressive 113 blocks so far this season.  Manitowoc Lutheran has another top distributor in <strong>Grace Melso </strong>(2019 – 5’8 – Setter), who averages almost 8 assists per set as well.  Manitowoc also poses a threat from the service line with <strong>Aubrey Schleis </strong>(2022 – 5’7 – Outside Hitter/Setter), who averages almost an ace per set. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Ozaukee may be in the bottom half, but they have a top-notch server with <strong>Abigayle Miller </strong>(2019), who has a total of 64 aces so far this season.  Reedsville is in the same boat as Ozaukee being in the bottom half, but with a standout defender in <strong>Rachel Peterson </strong>(2020 – Middle Blocker), who averages almost 1 block per set.  St. Mary Catholic isn’t a fluke at the top.  They are propelled by their tough defensive run by <strong>Ellie O’Brien </strong>(2019 – 5’5 – Libero/Defensive Specialist), who has a total of 419 digs for the season.  Cedar Grove-Belgium is right in the middle of the pack, and they are kept alive in matches by <strong>Shelby Cooney </strong>(2020 – 5’5 – Libero/Defensive Specialist), who averages over 6 digs per set.  With many standout players and competitive teams, this should be a fun tournament to see unfold.</p>
