This particular season has been one of parity, lots of upsets, when in actuality I’m not really sure you can classify them as upsets, it just a matter of when and who executes that particular match. With rankings, if we base it on the process of Team A beats Team B, then we would have some really strange flip flops in rankings. Since Greendale beat Arrowhead should that make Greendale number one? DSHA this past weekend beat Greendale and Appleton North, but lost to Waukesha West, while Waukesha West lost to Appleton North (For the record my office is not a big bulletin of newspaper clippings and red strings like crime shows comparing team to team). To make matters more confusing, plenty of teams have traveled into Illinois to take on top competition and oh yea, River Falls has played two tournaments in Minnesota and hosted a Wisconsin/Minnesota Border Battle. Top competition stretches far beyond state lines.
At Prep Dig we want to provide exposure to as many teams and players as we can. Forget the records, the comparisons of who beat who, and let’s take the microscope a little bit closer on teams 30-50.
30. Clayton
31. Merrill
32. Stratford
33. Aquinas
34. Pewaukee
35. Ashwaubenon
36. Howards Grove
37. Germantown
38. Xavier
40. USOM
41. Grantsburg
42 Waterloo
43. Manitowoc Lincoln
44. Mosinee
45. Lakeside Lutheran
46. Sheboygan North
47. Luther Prep
48. Kenosha Bradford
49. Chilton
50. Bay Port
Clayton leads the way at 30 in this group which comprises of teams from all classes. Is Clayton capable of beating teams ahead of them? Absolutely. Their defense and ball control is amazing and they play so clean and efficient.
Stratford has been number one in D3 with an undefeated record and would love to see them get thrown in the middle of some tough tournaments or a matchup against River Falls, Clayton, or SPASH in their area.
There is a fair number of Division 1 teams that have not seen the top 20, but have been teams who are capable of putting up a fight with some of the top teams in the state. They will be really tough come tournament time. Pewaukee is one of those young, scary teams that can sneak up on you. They have bumped up to D1 which puts them in a really tough section. Germantown fits right in there with a team that is so athletic at every position. Kenosha Bradford has posted over twenty wins this season along with big wins over Oak Creek and Franklin.
The Fox River Classic Conference has teams that have been extremely competitive, but just haven’t gotten the big signature win. This week brings up a huge match with Manitowoc Lincoln traveling to Ashwaubenon that will most likely results in the winner being the Fox River Classic Conference Champion. This match will feature some dynamite coming from the outside with Maddie Koch of Ashwaubenon, a Purdue commit and Maddie Crowley. Lincoln will have a solid Class of 2020 outside in Katie DiRaimondo who has lead the Ships to a 26-12 record. Bay Port is continuing to pick up momentum and Sheboygan North has had some close losses, but still has a team consisting of plenty of power and ball control behind Dru Kuck at libero heading to Wisconsin, Kasey Bell heading to Loyola as a middle blocker, and the top available prospect in the Class of 2021 Lizzie Binder on the outside.
????????ALL LHS STUDENTS???????? Monday through Thursday this week there will be a sign up in the office for a fan bus to the game in Ashwaubenon this Thursday!! Go sign up ASAP to secure your spot!

There is a large amount of Division 2 teams in this group who have been fighting their way for a spot in the top ten as well as some middle of the pack Division 3 teams. Merrill, Xavier, University School of Milwaukee, Mosinee, Lakeside Lutheran, Luther Prep, and Chilton, have had their moments of big wins throughout the year. Merrill and Mosinee will be some of the favorites to comes out of their Sectional from the Northern Region in D2 where Xavier and Chilton will be with grouped with Little Chute and will also have the likes of Luxemburg-Casco and Shawano in their sectional. Lakeside Lutheran, Luther Prep, and Platteville will be in a sectional with a top D2 team in East Troy, but will also have Edgewood, McFarland, Mount Horeb, and Lake Mills to contend with.
A lot can change in a matter of a week. Seeding meetings are fast approaching, all meetings will be completed by the night of Wednesday, October 10. Saturday, October 13 will be the last regular season tournaments. From then on, its one and done. Let the season of chaos continue!
