The 16s team also had qualifier success winning the Northern Lights’ 16 American division. Hosting some of the best volleyball talent in Minnesota outside of the Twin Cities metro area, SWMNVB could very likely achieve similar results in 2019. Featuring a total of six teams from U18 to U14, the following information highlights their top two teams at 18-1 and 17-1.
SWMNVB 18-1
Lydia Sussner (Southwest MN State commit), a 2018 Ms. Baden Volleyball finalist, leads a loaded 18-1 squad. Maddy Guetter (Augustana) is the other committed 2019 athlete from this team. Both are Class A 1st Team All-State selections. They are surrounded by a bevy of uncommitted talent including dynamic outside hitter Bria Morris (OH | 2020 | Marshall HS) and the steady ball control skills of Mia Schnaible (L/DS | 2020 | Marshall). Both were named to the Big South all-conference team. The high impact versatility of Meeghen Dahlager (MH/OH/RS | 2019 | Yellow Medicine East) is a great asset to this squad. She is a Camden all-conference selection. At 6’4 and left-handed, junior Alyssa Groves (RS | 2020 | Murray County Central) will create a lot of problems for opponents from both sides of the ball. Her stock is steadily rising and she will continue to make an impact on the recruiting scene. She is a Red Rock all-conference selection. Other notable athletes are Paige Andries (MB/OH | 2020 | Marshall), Maddie Hinz (S | 2020 | Yellow Medicine East), Sophie Johnson (OH/DS | 2020 | Hendricks), and Kasie Tweet (S | 2020 | Adrian). This team will certainly be fun to watch. They are talented bunch.
SWMNVB 17-1
A collection of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors make up this squad and although youthful in some positions, the experience and competitiveness is among of the best. At just a freshman, Natalee Rolbiecki (OH | 2022 | Minneota) is a key catalyst here with her experience starting for state champion Minneota. A Camden all-conference honorable mention selection, she is athletic and versatile offensively and possesses great blocking instincts. Logan Sherman (S/RS | 2020 | Marshall) has great size at the setter position and is an offensive weapon as an opposite as well. She has great experience helping guide Marshall to the state tournament while earning all-conference honors. The 6’1 Karli Arkell (MB | 2022 | Red Rock Central) is a Red Rock all-conference selection and adds great length in the middle. Ball control duties will be handled by a core of athletes in Kalleigh Carr (L/DS | 2021 | Russel-Tyler-Ruthton), Abby Roost (OH/DS | 2021 | Minneota), Mayssa Tweet (L/DS | 2022 | Adrian), and Sadie Voss (OH | 2022 | Jackson County Central). Rounding out the middle hitter rotation are Bryn Hoekman (MB | 2021 | Murray County Central) and Katelyn Nichols (MB | 2020 | Windom), a Big South all-conference honoree. Adding depth on the right pin is Autumn Hauge (RS | 2020 | Windom) and Maysa Gillingham (S | 2022 | Marshall). This squad has good depth and will compete well at the U17 level although the majority of their team could play at U16 or younger.
