Since the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association (WVCA), and most conferences require stats and results be entered into MaxPreps, we used the MaxPreps Wisconsin stat leaderboards to gather this information. Here are 6 attackers that made their mark and presence known this season!
Anna WolfAnna Wolf – 2021 – 6’3 – Middle Blocker – River Falls – Committed to Minnesota
Wolf had an impressive 2018 campaign, ending up 3rd in Wisconsin with an impressive .462 hitting efficiency. The only two players with better percentages are seniors, so Wolf may just be the most effective hitter in 2019. She helped River Falls to a 43-3 record and 1st place in the Big Rivers Conference. River Falls made another state run with only 2 seniors and will be going for another conference title and trip to the Resch Center in 2019.
Jacqueline Smith – 2020 – 5’11 – Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker – Northland Pines
Smith has been a key piece to Northland Pine’s team since her freshman season. She has led them to winning seasons and is a strong 6-rotation outside. She elevates, has great placement, and court awareness. She has a fast and heavy swing from the pin. Smith passed the 1,000 kills mark in 2018 and led her team with 679 kills, 455 digs, 99 aces, and 76 blocks. Smith and the Eagles will be fighting to get into the top 3 of the tough Great Northern Conference in 2019. She does it all, and I can’t wait to see which college picks her up.
Abigail Widiker – 2019 – 5’9” – Outside Hitter – St. Croix Central
Widiker found a way. In 2018 she hit an impressive .426 and 388 kills that placed her among the ranks of players much taller. Widiker helped the Panthers to a 21-7 record and a 1st place finish in the Middle Border Conference. She led her team and put up a fight against Amery in a 5-set regional battle that ended 15-17 in the 5th.
Taylor Langmeier – 2019 – 5’9 – Middle Blocker/Defensive Specialist/Outside Hitter – River Ridge
In 2018 Langmeier led the Timberwolves to a conference title in the Six River – Western Conference. She will graduate along with two others from their state tournament team. Langmeier led her team in 2018 with 355 kills and 38 blocks. In 2019 the reigns will be passed to Skylar White (2020 – 5’7 – Middle Blocker/Defensive Specialist/Outside Hitter) who led the squad with 58 aces.
Sammie SeibSammie Seib – 2021 – 5’8” – Outside Hitter – Catholic Central
Catholic Central had a solid 39-7 record in 2018, and Seib was a big part of that. She led her team with 573 kills and 101 aces. Seib has a serious vertical and a fast armswing. She was unstoppable down the line but could place the ball just about anywhere in the championship match against Clayton. Central earned the Metro Classic Conference Championship title and will have to fight for one in 2019,as they will graduate 3 big pieces.
Mckenna Wucherer – 2022 – 6’1 – Outside Hitter – Brookfield Central – Committed to Minnesota
Wucherer comes from a volleyball family. Central finished 2nd in the Greater Metro Conference. In 2018 Wucherer led her team with 571 kills and 91 aces. She plays with smooth athleticism and experience. If Wucherer has a similar season in 2019, she will join the elite 1,000 kill club in less than 2 seasons of play.
