With the opening of the bar-raising Union Bank and Trust Sports Complex in Elkhorn, Nebraska Elite volleyball moved into the Taj Mahal of volleyball facilities. And, as evidenced by Nebraska Elite’s success in multiple age divisions at the January Thaw tournament over the past weekend, they have the teams to match the facility.
Here is a look at Nebraska Elite’s 18s and 17s teams.
Nebraska Elite 18 Ying
It’s fairly rare for a team at the 18s level to have the depth that Nebraska Elite 18 Ying has this club season as the team can use its full bench with confidence.
Setters Emma Worthington – a Cornell commit from Omaha Duchesne – and Megan Raszler – a Dordt College recruit from Elkhorn – give the team flexibility in terms of the type of offense they want to run with Worthington being a capable attacking option at the net.
In the back row Nebraska Elite 18 Ying has Elkhorn South’s Wayne State recruit Jordan McCormick and Omaha Marian’s Sophia Moes (one of the top unsigned seniors in the state) to fill the libero and DS spots.
In the middle and the right side, Nebraska Elite 18 Ying has a plethora of options with Iowa recruit Emma Grunkemeyer of Millard North, Northwest Missouri State recruit Emmy Grant of Millard North, Nebraska-Kearney recruit Michaela Bartels of Bennington and South Dakota recruit Madison Harms of Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa.
On the outside, Nebraska Elite 18 Ying has Creighton recruit Emily Bressman of Omaha Marian, Tulsa recruit Lily Heyne of Skutt Catholic and Tennessee-Chattanooga recruit Makenzie Saitta of Elkhorn South – who is currently being held out with a minor knee injury.
