Badger Region athletes peppered the list in an array of age groups and divisions. Three athletes from the region took home the honor of MVP. See my other coverage of this tournament in the following articles: Badger Region Teams that Rocked the Nike President’s Day Tournament and Wisconsin Teams Playing in the Nike President’s Day Classic.
Here are the talented athletes who made their respective All-Tournament Team at the Nike President’s Day Classic in Saint Louis a few weeks back. The list is in order of age group and division.
Hannah Brown – MVP 18 Blue – 18 Premier Division – Middle Blocker – Prep Dig Rank #38 – Committed to Bellarmine
Hannah Brown has the whole package. She makes big plays, puts up consistent and solid blocks, and is quick in transition. She has a great understanding of her opponents and uses their weaknesses to her advantage. This makes her extremely effective as a middle blocker and will continue to be a huge asset both to her and her team as she finishes out the club season and heads into college.
Nicole Pozorski – MVP 17 Blue – 17 Premier Division – Setter – Prep Dig Rank #34
I am waiting for Nicole to get picked up by a college team. She is so incredibly talented and runs a fast and efficient offense. It is no surprise, though still a huge honor, that she made the all-tournament team at this tournament. As Nicole continues to grow in the sport of volleyball, it will be fun to see what she can do as an athlete and teammate.
Madelyn Rettler – Milwaukee Sting 17 White – 17 Premier Division – Outside Hitter – Prep Dig Rank #135
Every time Madelyn steps on the court she has a positive impact on the match. She works hard and it shows in every single play. She always finds a way to better the ball and has a deep arsenal of shots she can implement at any moment.
Riley Kindt – MVP 17 Blue – 17 Premier Division – Middle Hitter – Prep Dig Rank #47
Riley is so fun to watch. She is an energizer on the court and makes big plays at key moments. She has a strong swing but is also extremely smart with the plays she runs. She is an all-around strong player and is a valuable asset to this energetic and strong team!
Cassidy Spies – Capital 17 Navy – MVP of 17 Club Division – Outside Hitter – Prep Dig Rank #102 – Committed to Viterbo
Cassidy was named the MVP of the 17 Club division! Her all-around athleticism and leadership skills were key in her receiving this honor. Not only does she have a fast transition and powerful swing, but she is also talented on serve receive and defense. Cassidy is also a key leader on this extremely talented team.
Sam Grey – Capital 17 Navy – 17 Club Division – Outside Hitter – Prep Dig Rank #120
Sam is a really effective hitter. She does her job on the court and she does it very well. Her energy is great and she is clearly a determined athlete. Sam is also explosive in her approach and her arm swing making her hard to read as a hitter and very impactful on her team.
Jade Stefan – Milwaukee Sting 16 Black – 16 Open Division – Setter – Prep Dig Rank #51
Jade is extremely fast and has a lot of control with her sets. The ball is quick out of her hands and she can set pin to pin from nearly anywhere on the court. Jade is also a great leader on the court. She runs the offense well and always pushes herself to improve the ball.
Lindsay Krnarich – Milwaukee Sting 16 White – MVP of 16 Premier Division – Middle Hitter – Prep Dig Rank #69
Lindsay is nearly unstoppable in the front row. She puts up a massive and impenetrable block and has a fast and powerful swing on offense. She definitely earned the title of MVP throughout this entire tournament. From Sting’s first match to their last, she worked hard and earned points and momentum for her team.
Katelyn Lefler – MVP 16 Blue – 16 Premier Division – Setter/RS – Prep Dig Rank #41
Katelyn is a very talented setter who is efficient and effective on the court. She moves the ball around seemingly effortlessly and knows her hitters and other teammates well. When she is in the front row, she puts up a solid block and brings in some powerful swings.
Mackenzie Leach – Milwaukee Sting 16 White – 16 Premier Division – Libero – Prep Dig Rank #54
Before I saw Mackenzie pass, I saw her serve, and she has some impressive power behind it! She racked up two aces before I even got to see her play defense. Her coverage of the court is just as impressive as her serve though. She has great form and utilizes it extremely well.
Becca Seidenberg – MVP 15 Blue – MVP of 15 Premier Division – Setter – Prep Dig Rank #41
For only being 15, Becca has an amazing presence on the court. She runs a fast offense, is a leader for her team, and sees the other side of the court incredibly well. Being named MVP of the entire tournament means she definitely caught the attention of the coaches and teams her team competed against.
Grace Mocholski – MVP 15 Blue – 15 Premier Division – Outside Hitter
MVP 15 Blue had two athletes on the All-Tournament Team which is quite the accomplishment. Grace is a powerful outside hitter who excels in all aspects of the game. She is a talented passer and blocker as well. Her consistency on defense and serve receive sets her up for success at the net and her ability to pound the ball brings a lot of energy to her team.
Brooke Porter – Milwaukee Sting 15 Black – 15 Premier Division – Outside Hitter – Prep Dig Rank #35
Brooke is a truly incredible all-around athlete. She is consistent on serve receive, fast in transition, and powerful at the net. Her ability to see the block and use it to her advantage is one skill that impressed me when I saw her team play. Brooke is an energizer on the court and played as a six-rotation outside for Sting at the President’s Day Classic.
Jordan Karlen – Capital 15 Adidas – 15 Premier Division – Setter/RS – Prep Dig Rank #29
Jordan is an awesome leader on this team. She plays in several roles, as both a setter and a right side giving her multiple opportunities to develop as a leader and teammate. She talks a lot and has a great presence on the court along with being both a talented setter and hitter.
Lauren Hazelett – Capital 15 Navy – 15 Club Division – Libero
Lauren leads both through her actions and her talk on the court. She squares up well and has some of the most consistent and book perfect form I have seen recently. Her consistency makes her dangerous to opponents and her ability to make big plays and be a leader on her team makes her an asset to any team she will play on.
McKenna Hall – Epic 17 Black – 17 Club Division – Outside/RS
Hall is one of the most dynamic players in Southeastern Wisconsin who preps at Westosha Central. Whether it be playing on the pin or in the backrow, Hall is a major gamechanger with how she can keep everything system as well as put a ball away. Epic 17 Black finished 6th overall in the club division going 5-2. This season has been a breakout one for this team as they continue to rise in the Badger Region ranks. As for Hall, she is a next level player who is the type that can contribute in multiple ways and make a gym more intense and competitive.
It is awesome to see so many Badger Region athletes who earned spots on the Nike President’s Day Classic All-Tournament Team. Each of these athletes has clearly worked hard to get to this point and will continue to grow in the sport as great teammates and athletes!
