In order to be on the list, you have to be in high school, on one of the top two teams in your age level in your club, a member of a JVA club and be nominated by your club director. Only athletes on the list will be eligible for selection to the Ultra Ankle JVA All-National team selected later this season. Additionally, athletes who are not currently committed to a college, qualify for the AVCA Phenom College Prep Program.
Over 70 athletes from the Badger Region are the JVA Watch List and as such I will be writing an article highlighting athletes from their respective high school class. Each of these athletes is unique and brings a lot to the table.
Matison Jakscht – Libero/DS – Capital Volleyball Academy – Prep Dig Rank #91 – Committed to UW- Milwaukee
Matison’s control in the back row allows her team to run a fast offense and bring home big wins. Matison can always be trusted to make a tough ball playable. She is a leader for her team in the back row and should do very well as a college athlete.
Sarah Malone – Libero/DS – Capital Volleyball Academy – Prep Dig Rank #52 – Uncommitted
Sarah excels on serve receive. Her ball control is superb and she rarely makes mistakes. In addition to being great on serve receive she is also fast on defense and has a powerful serve. Sarah can be scrappy on defense and is very fun to watch.
Hannah Brown – Middle Blocker – Motion Volleyball Program – Prep Dig Rank #38 – Committed to Bellarmine
Hannah is a very dynamic player. She reads the ball well and explodes on her blocks. She puts up a massive and consistent block which brings in big plays and is advantageous for her team’s defense to set up behind her. She also has a powerfully fast arm swing.
Kiana Schmitt – Middle Blocker – Capital Volleyball Academy – Prep Dig Rank #1 – Committed to Creighton
Kiana has an amazing presence on the court. She is a leader, talks a lot, and is an athlete who follows through on every play until the whistle blows. She clearly works hard, enjoys being on the court, and is just an incredible athlete.
Kennedy Crain – Outside Hitter – Revolution Volleyball – Uncommitted
Kennedy is an impressive outside hitter who finds a way to make kills no matter the circumstances. She is talented on serve receive and defense and is the type of athlete who always has an impact on her team and the pace of the game when she is on the court.
Sopheea Mink – Outside Hitter – Capital Volleyball Academy – Prep Dig Rank #14 – Committed to High Point
I had the opportunity to watch Sopheea play at the Nike President’s Day Classic coupled with the rest of the athletes from their team on this list, it was truly a great match to watch. Sopheea played all 6 rotations as outside and just brought great energy to the court. She has a lot of power yet still remains controlled.
This is an amazing list of talented seniors both those that are committed to play in college and those that aren’t. Each of these athletes is amazingly deserving to be on this list. It will be exciting to see them as their seasons develop.
