Continue ReadingMarch is finally here and we’re quickly running out of time to get to know the senior prep players this season! Today you can get to know Urbandale’s Sydney Smetzer. Smetzer led the J-Hawks with 551 digs, 52 assists, and 33 aces. She was an All-Conference, All-District, and Honorable Mention All-State performer. Syndey is going to continue her academic and possibly volleyball career at a 4 year college next fall and is playing this season with the Powerplex 18s.
Q) Who has most contributed to your volleyball success?
A) “The person who I contribute my volleyball success to was my club coach during my Junior year. I really focused on left back that year so he helped me refine my skills.”
Q) What is the biggest life lesson volleyball has taught you?
A) “My biggest life lesson from volleyball is if you have the skill and heart to succeed the heart is what drives your success.”
Q) What is your favorite club tournament or city?
A) “My favorite club tournament was Colorado Crossroads in Denver because it was my first time visiting Colorado, and going to dinner with the team every night.”
Q) What is your favorite way to spend your time?
A) “Outside of volleyball I love hanging with friends, take some things off my chest if needed and being really goofy.”
