Milwaukee Sting 18 Gold has the number one overall seed heading into the weekend and features a roster of Division 1 athletes with FaR Out 18, MiElite 18 Mizuno, and Impact VBC Smack 18 Open. The perfect way to face some high level competition before competing against some of the best in the country at USA Nationals, after all, this weekend will feature some top notch recruits. Here are athletes to watch at the 18 Open Mizuno Motor City Madness.
Dru Kuck – MKE Sting 18 Gold – Libero – Class of 2019
Dru KuckCommitted to Kansas State
Kuck is the top libero in the Class of 2019 and will be taking her game to the Big 12 to play for K-State. Incredibly athletic and physical, Kuck brings a gritty presence to the court where she can flat out compete and keep everything in system for Sting who can run a high tempo offense to a variety of weapons.
Jordyn Gates – FaR Out National 18 Black – Setter – Class of 2019
Committed to Arkansas
Gates has to be one of the best athletes at setter where she has been a go-to, high profile player and recruit since she stepped on the court. With volleyball running deep with her family, Gates has a really savvy knack for the game and while she can find open teammates, she is a physical attacker and blocker at the net as well.
Maddy Chinn – MiElite 18 Mizuno – Outside Hitter – Class of 2019
Committed to Purdue
Chinn is going to be part of quite the recruiting class that Purdue is bringing in which after seeing incoming recruits from Iowa and Wisconsin heading to be a Boiler, Chinn will blend right along with them. The top outside hitter in Michigan will be fun to see take on the likes of the best in the country.
Ryann Jaqua – Dead Frog 18 National Black – Outside Hitter – Class of 2019
Committed to Toledo
Jaqua is a high flyer who packs a punch when she hits. A six rotation outside hitter, Jaqua has an electric energy that makes her tough to defend and a live arm that makes her a threat to score no matter where she is on the court.
Alayna Jansky – MKE Sting 18 Gold – Outside Hitter – Class of 2019
Committed to Eastern Michigan
From Milwaukee to Michigan, Jansky will have a chance to play in her new backyard as she will head to Eastern Michigan to play for head coach Darcy Dorton who was most recently named the AVCA Top 30 Under 30 Coaches in the country. What can Eastern Michigan fans expect from Jansky? I high intensity, high energy six rotation player with a live arm. She’s gritty and just finds a way to score points. She will raise the energy in the gym and always walk into compete.
Avolyn Lepo – MVA 18 National Black – Middle Blocker – Class of 2019
Committed to Oakland
Lepo is a 6’2 middle blocker who will be competing against some other future Horizon League players, one in Arianna Miller of MKE Sting 18 Gold who will be playing for UW-Milwaukee. Oakland has always been very competitive in the Horizon League and will continue to be with the recruiting class and returners they will have for 2019.
Emma Szypszak – MKE Sting 18 Black – Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker – Class of 2019
Committed to Florida Gulf Coast
Szypszak is saying so long to the cold and snow and taking her game to Florida Gulf Coast to play her collegiate volleyball. Szypszak was a middle blocker on the Milwaukee Sting team that finished in the final four at AAU two years ago and has found a new spot on the pin. This team is scrappy and will be a dark horse to compete among the best this weekend.
