April’s showers bring… more college commitments

<p>  The weather is unpredictable in April but these athlete's future is not.  Five more stand-out players from across the state have pronounced where they will be attending college and continuing their volleyball career.  </p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Amber Bretwisch</span>; 5'7'' Setter - Minnesota State University Moorhead</strong></p> <p>  This talented setter from Woodbury has been playing and learning from the best.  She was on varsity for four years and earned All-conference Honorable mention for three of those.  In the club season, she has been a part of <em>Kokoro</em> since she was 12.  Currently, she is on the Kokoro 18-1's team.  She has helped them to a very successful season, including a recent win at the Pentagon Grand Prix.  This looks to be a great fit and smooth transition for Bretwisch as she has been coached by Moorhead alum, Sam Sullivan.  </p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Angel Khang</span>; 5'5'' Outside/DS - Augsburg College</strong></p> <p>  The next recent commit made her choice to attend Augsburg College around the first week in April.  Khang is from North St Paul High School. She is a very disciplined player and shows strong skills from her training at <em>Hype</em> Volleyball Club.  Most likely, she will be a defensive specialist for the Auggie next year.</p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Arie Walker</span>; 5'7'' Setter - North Carolina A &amp; T</strong></p> <p>  One of MN Northern Light's athletes, Arie Walker, has already committed to North Carolina A &amp; T.  A current member of the 17-red team, Walker has got the attention of this Division 1 school.  Still a junior at St. Paul Academy, but eager to take her talents south to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.</p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Elise Elliot</span>; 5'5'' Libero - University of St Thomas</strong></p> <p> The defensive back bone of the Eagan High School, Elliot, has verbally committed to St Thomas.  She had a great senior season helping her team all the way to a 2nd place finish at the state tournament.  Likewise, she is a key member of the M1 18-2's team.  Now, her family and fans will be able to cheer for her at the next level.</p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Ella Haugen</span>; 5'10'' Setter - Bowdoin College</strong></p> <p>  Edina High school as been the home to one of the most talented setters in the state; now, headed for Maine.  Haugen is a prime example of what a student athlete should be consistently making the A honor roll.  The Bowdoin Polar Bears are DIII college with a strong reputation for their volleyball program.  Head coach, Erin Cady, was the coach of the year in the NESCAC.  Look for Ella to step in and be a key contributor for them.</p> <p>  There’s is still time for juniors and seniors to sign on to a college program.  Congratulations to these players, their coaches and families.  Good luck in the future.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
