Most Efficient And Under The Radar Hitters Under 5’10
Everyone loves a Dana Rettke, but I love that player who no one expects to be a huge swing. They might have crazy hops or even super sneaky shots, but here are a group of hitters who know how to get the job done. Let’s take a look at some of the best hitters in Wisconsin that measure under 5’10:
Abigail Widiker Abigail Widiker 5'11" | OH St. Croix Central | 2019 State WI – 2019 – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – Kokoro – Committed To Missouri S&T
Widiker uses her quick armswing to tally up the kills. She hit an impressive .426 and had 388 kills for St. Croix Central this past fall.
Amanda Charpentier – 2019 – 5’8 – Outside Hitter – Committed To Judson University
Charpentier is a highly decorated player at Heritage Christian. As a senior captain, she committed to Judson University in Illinois. Charpentier hit an impressive .350 from the outside her senior season.
Chloe Tome Chloe Tome 5'9" | OH Wauwatosa East | 2019 State WI – 2019 – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – Milwaukee Sting 18 Silver – Committed to Missouri State (Playing Beach)
Tome has helped her team recently to win the Adidas Girls CrazyFlight Classic and then a 3rd place finish in the 18 Club Division at the Badger Region Championships in March. She is an accomplished beach player who will continue her play in the sand in the Spring of 2020.
Chyna Bacchus Chyna Bacchus 5'9" | OH Univ. School of Milwaukee | 2019 State WI – 2019 – 5’8 – Outside Hitter/Setter – USOM
Bacchus is a 5’8 senior that can do anything. She can pass, set, and get the kill. Bacchus had 366 kills for USOM this past fall. She is very high academiccally and is currently uncommitted, but it sure would be awesome to see her playing somewhere in the fall!
Katie Mattson Katie Mattson 5'9" | MB/OPP Luck | 2019 State WI – 2019 – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – MN Select – Committed To Concordia-St. Paul
As a 5’9 senior Outside Hitter, Mattson led the Luck Cardinals in 2018. She totaled 792 kills and 354 digs in her last 2 seasons at Luck. In 2018 she led her squad with 490 kills and 64 aces.
Kierra Koepke – 2019 – 5’7 – Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist – Motion 18 Blue – Committed To Trinity
At 5’7 Koepke really can do it all. She’s probably committed to Trinity as a libero since she is “lights out good” in serve-receive, but she can swing with the best of them. Koepke led National Champions SWCHA with 443 kills in 2018, while also recording 502 digs.
Mady Schultz – 2019 – 5’7 – Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter – (Birchwood)
Schultz is a 5’7 senior captain who can play anywhere in the front row. As an undersized hitter, she showed her smarts and experience to lead her Birchwood team to a 21-7 finish. Schultz finished her high school career with 690 kills, 139 aces, and 123 blocks.
Skylar White – 2020 – 5’7 – Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist – River Ridge
What doesn’t White do? Well, currently that would be setting, but I wouldn’t doubt if maybe she set in the past. She’s a solid athlete who does whatever she has to for her team. White may be only 5’7, but she plays so much bigger. With her grit alone, she would be a great defensive specialist and backup hitter at the next level. In 2018 she hit a .393, and hopefully, she can continue that pace in 2019.
Sophie Daugherty – 2019 – 5’9 – Middle Blocker – Benton
Daugherty led her squad in 2018 with 324 kills. She ended her high school career just shy of 1,000 kills and almost 300 blocks. This was impressive being an undersized middle.
