Part 2: More Attackers Set To Take The Court At The Prep Dig Gauntlet
Just over a week away from the Prep Dig Gauntlet where we will have plenty of big arms that can put the ball away. Here is “Part 2” of more attackers to watch at the Prep Dig Gauntlet
Fortune for FC Elite 14 Navy.Karissa Fortune – FC Elite 14 Navy
Fortune is going to be one to watch to see what potential impact she could have once she starts her high school career. A pin hitter that can ball control, Fortune has been a big time point scorer for Elite who finished second in the Badger Region Power League and also won the Badger Regional Qualifier which sends them to Indy for USAV with a National bid. Fortune’s older sister, Abby, plays volleyball at Northern Michigan.
Ella McLaughlin – Iowa Rockets 15R
McLaughlin has a major upside that will be fun to see her all around game develop the next couple years. With a high contact point and the ability to get over hands over the net to block and take away angles she is a really diverse player with a variety of skills for a Rockets team who has had some huge wins this year.
Katy Garrison – Iowa Rockets 16R
Garrison has been used mostly on the right side for Rockets where her block causes a major mismatch for the opponents outside hitter. With the blockers on the other side keying on Martha Pace and Elyse winter on the left pin, Garrison is really able to stretch the defense out with her ability to put a ball away. She plays for a very solid high school program in Cedar Rapids Xavier who will be one of the favorites to win Class 4A in Iowa.
Lauren Sitter – MVP 16 Blue
MVP 16 Blue is a team you can’t sleep on with athletes who can play multiple positions and can attack in various ways. A 6’0 middle blocker, Sitter can hit a variety of sets from the shoot to a quick in front or behind the setter and can run a slide very effectively. Her hand to ball contact is solid where she manages to hit the ball square and solid putting some pace on it each time.
Eva Johnson – One Wisconsin 14-1
Johnson brings a lot of power to the court where she can swing out of the middle or on the pin. She will head to Kimberly High School who will be looking to get back to the state tournament for the third year in a row. She is one of the go to players for 1W 14-1 which comes out of Green Bay.
Hailey Pollock – Iowa Rockets 16-1
Pollock is 6’2, putting up a big block and is very fundamentally sound. She gets her elbow high and a quick snap as a middle blocker where she knows how to find the deep corner. Her ability to attack off one foot and swing on the right side is also good to note as well. Definitely hidden gem who could get some solid exposure this summer.
Mary Satori – FC Elite 15 Navy
Satori has come on strong on the pin for FC Elite who has plenty of options on the pin with Brianna Cantrell, Bella Van Lannen, and Karissa Kaminski who has been playing as of late as the main libero. Satori had a big time role in the FC Elite’s wins at the Northern Lights Qualifier where they were able to defeat the likes of Central Iowa Select and Iowa Rockets.
Scout Kirschy – Iowa Select 15 Black
Iowa Select 15 Black has secured a bid to nationals and has put together a really solid season. Scout Kirschy may have the best named in the field (I’ll avoid any “To Kill a Mockingbird”) references, but she will be a key player for Select who uses a really balanced attack and will be looking to build some momentum heading into Indy come late June.
