The Wisconsin State Capitol
One of 85 Bucky Badgers around Madison.Located in Downtown Madison, surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, and State Street, the Wisconsin State Capitol is a must take photo opp. With tulips still in bloom and plenty of people walking around, they also host the Dane County Farmers Market around the capitol square. The athletes and coaches from Central Iowa Select out of Des Moines know all about big being around the capitol building and farmers markets. This is one of the tops in the state with plenty of food and fun, great for a team playing the PM shift to start their day!
Take a Picture With Bucky!
Yes, Bucky The Badger. Although teams might not be seeing Bucky in action (although I’m sure Bucky loves a good farmers’ market), there are Bucky statues all around town. Actually 85 of them. Use the hashtag #buckyonparade or search the hashtag and you will see the various statues scattered all throughout the Madison area. Feel free to add the hashtag #PDGauntlet so we can see your team’s experience all throughout the weekend.
Union Terrace
You know…the place with the colorful chairs. This may be the spot to hangout for players, parents, and coaches after that AM shift, get some sun, and catch a gorgeous sunset at the Memorial Union Terrace on the University of Wisconsin campus right along Lake Mendota. This is a popular hangout spot for plenty of students on campus as well as residents of Madison. A perfect way to start the summer….because we are planning on all the weather being 75-80 degrees and no rain 🙂
The Lakes
Surrounded by walking, running, and biking trails, Lake Monona and Lake Mendota are two lakes right off of Downtown Madison where you will see all types of activity. Madison is the host to the Wisconsin Ironman which has a layout catering to biking and open water swimming. This might be a great spot for a walk before the Sunday championships or once again a good way to end the day with a sunset.
