Summer Camp Spotlight: Iowa Camps Attract Top Coaches Across The Country
School is out (hopefully for all, but based on the snow days there could be a few more in session), club season is winding down, and with that brings that opportunity for athletes to get in the gym to improve their individual game while also getting the chance to be seen by coaches at all levels. Here is just a quick snapshot of some Iowa athletes getting this past weekend with some of the top talent and coaching the state has.
College Elite Camp – Adrenaline Volleyball
The College Elite Camp held at Adrenaline Volleyball in Hiawatha, powered by My Recruiting Assistant featured some of the top athletes in the state as well as some of the top coaches in the region with strong Iowa ties. Athletes are split up by position and are able to work directly with college coaches on each court. This helps athletes who are looking for exposure, get a feel for working with coaches at all levels, and a chance for coaches to work with athletes who could possibly become part of their program in the future.

In positional breakdowns they will combine some of the sessions between the boys and the girls. Boys volleyball is on the rise across the Midwest and Iowa is definitely a part of that conversation. Donan Cruz, Head Men’s Coach at Grand View has won a national title and has put Grand View on the map in the NAIA Men’s Volleyball scene. Other coaches for the boys are Caren Kemner who is the head men’s and women’s coach at Culver-Stockton out of Missouri, Kemner is one of the top volleyball players to come out of the University of Arizona and has spent significant time with USA volleyball.

Marc Neef, a Cornell College alum and former assistant for the Rams currently is an assistant coach at Stony Brook out of New York, teaming up with former Ankeny and UNI standout, Kristen Belzung, the head coach at Stony Brook to turn their program into an NCAA Tournament contender. Neef comes back to Iowa to work the High Performance camp and addressed the athletes saying he enjoys coming back to work because Iowa kids work hard, compete, and know how to get after it. He will be joining forces with Tina Carter, the Grand View women’s head coach, who has taken her teams to multiple national tournaments to coach the Iowa Youth teams in Fort Lauderdale.
