Here is a look at who, in my opinion, had impressive performances in the C2 division (listed in alphabetical order by school name).
Madison Schuller, 5’10, Sr., OH – Alma
Schuler had a powerful arm and displayed athleticism that would translate well into a 2-Year College or an NAIA caliber school where she could get a year or two of junior varsity experience.
Tria McLean, 5’11, Sr., Setter – Battle Creek
No surprise here as the Ohio recruit is one of the better setters and all-around athletes in the state.
Renee Brummels, 6’0, Jr., MH – Battle Creek
She has nice size but is pretty raw in terms of her skill development. She has the ability to be a 2-Year College player or be part of a NAIA program with a junior varsity team where she could develop more.
Mackenzie Vitosh, 6’0, Sr., MH – Diller-Odell
Vitosh is athletic with good length above the net and has a more refined all-around game than a vast majority of players in the division. She projects well at the NAIA level.
Addison Heidemann, 5’9, Jr., Setter – Diller-Odell
An Iowa State recruit, I have to say that she has developed into one of the most dynamic and athletic setters I’ve seen in a long time. Her hands are so soft, quick and powerful that it feels like the ball is shot out of a cannon she delivers it so fast, but at the same time to ball seems to float softly. She is spectacular to watch.
Karli Heidemann, 6’1, Fr., OH – Diller-Odell
There are going to be a lot of really good impact freshmen in the state this year. The 2023 class is pretty top-heavy. That having been said, Heidemann is among the very best of that group. She’s big time.
Erison Vonderschmidt, 5’10, Soph., OH/MH – Falls City Sacred Heart
A really smooth athlete and it seems like volleyball come easy for her. Always plays under control and is smart on the court. She’s athletic and she’s a lefty. Personally, I think she has all the tools to be a great college setter if someone where to start training her in that position.
Halle Theis – 6’0, Sr., OH – Fillmore Central
The Regis University recruit is athletic and powerful with plenty of room for growth in her game. Her best years are still in front of her.
Makenna Asher, 5’10, Sr., Setter – Hastings St. Cecilia
I’m actually a little dumbfounded that Asher hasn’t found a college home yet. She’s not going to be a kid that walks into an NAIA program and contributes right away, but she has the potential to be an impact player late in her college career and would certainly add depth to a program.
Tori Thomas, 6’0, Sr., OH – Hastings St. Cecilia
Thomas is just a powerful force at the net. Her focus for college is in the track and field throwing events, but don’t think for a second a NAIA volleyball program wouldn’t love to have her because she’s definitely capable of being an impact player.
Addie Kirkegaard, 6’2, Soph., MB/RS – Hastings St. Cecilia
Kirkegaard has the size that plays at the next level and if her power and coordination start to click, she is going to be something special. It’s hard to watch her play and not think about Lucy Skoch, the Hastings College standout from St. Cecilia that is also a lefty of about the same size.
Lauryn Samuelson, 5’11, Sr., MH – Southern Valley
Samuelson is a Midland University recruit and an absolute steal for the Warriors. She suffered a significant knee injury earlier in her high school career but shows no ill effects of it. She’s an outstanding leaper and hits for power. She should really blossom at Midland.
Grace Hogeland, 5’6, Sr., Setter – Southern Valley
She’s not going to be able to run a 5-1 in college, but Hogeland possesses really nice hands and delivers a really good and accurate ball and has the quickness to keep off-target passes from putting the team out of system.
Jenny Moening-Linden, 5’8, Sr., Libero/DS – Southern Valley
For Southern Valley she is going to be playing as an outside hitter, but at the next level she projects as a very skilled back-row player that could also attack from back there.
Ashley Koenig, 5’8, Sr., OH – Summerland
I’ve been on the Koenig bandwagon for a while now, and while I know her height isn’t ideal and her passing needs to be polished up a bit, she’s got a power arm and she’s a competitor. I will be shocked if she isn’t picked up by a 2-year school or NAIA program.
Sidney Stallbaum, 5’10, MH/MB – Summerland
There is a lot to like about Stallbaum. I feel like I wrote the same thing about her last year at this camp, but it bears repeating. She’s athletic enough and has long, lanky arms to compensate for being a little shorter than you would like for a player at the net at the next level. But, she’s high energy, always makes herself available and every time Ive seen her play she’s given max effort.
