Continue ReadingThe Northern Sun Interscholastic Conference (NSIC) has been making themselves the best Division 2 conference in the country with homegrown talent. Athletes from the Upper Midwest have been happy to call this conference home with their families being within a few hours of most matches. This year even has new teams that are making a splash in the rankings with the likes of St. Cloud State and Upper Iowa being on the rise. Many of the schools in the NSIC will be going after the same athletes to get that one extra spot from their opponents. Here is another look at more NSIC schools and the Class of 2020 recruits they will be bringing in.
St. Cloud State
SCSU is off to a 10-0 start which has included wins over ranked opponents in Michigan Tech and Wheeling Jesuit. The Class of 2020 will come in and only make it stronger with Kenzie Foley (Sergeant Bluff-Luton – IA), one of the top attackers in the state of Iowa where she has been to multiple state tournament and a spot on Iowa’s 1st Team All State squad. Super legit. Allena Shimon (West Des Moines Dowling Catholic – IA) is a really dynamic and athletic setter from one of the top programs in Iowa’s largest class. A strong player for IPVA on the club scene, Shimon knows how to win. Ainsley Apel (Sauk Prairie – WI) is a libero from the Madison area who will bring a solid game and all-around solid ball control, work ethic, and good character. Apel has been part of Capital Volleyball Academy and will add more depth to the Huskies backcourt.

Sioux Falls
USF is heading into Iowa and taking a full advantage of the talent that Iowa has to offer with five athletes heading to Sioux Falls.
Jordyn Hamm – Spirit Lake HS – Kairos VBC
Caitlin Kellner – Des Moines Christian – PowerPlex
Peyton Kriegel – Center Point-Urbana – Iowa Rockets
Jordan Kuper – Monticello – CIA
Megan Riddle – Des Moines Christian – PowerPlex
Ally Beresford – Dakota Valley – MVP (Iowa)
Hamm, Kuper, and Riddle will be bringing some big time power and height as attackers where Kellner and Kriegel will hold down the backrow. Beresford is the silky smooth setter who can run a variety of tempos. Beresford plays club at MVP out of the Sioux City area which is the same club as Kenzie Foley (St. Cloud State) plays for.
Augustana
Augustana is also in Sioux Falls and will actually start the transition to Divison 1. However, that is not before they bring in some talented local kids that would include Hannah Prasky from Champlin Park out of the NW Metro Area of the Twin Cities. Prasky is a strong, physical middle blocker who was on the 2018 State Championship Team for Champlin Park. Sam Miller (#11 on Title Photo) will be coming in as a setter who is really solid defensively. Great hands, smooth release, and a high volleyball IQ. Miller has played for the same club as Apel (St. Cloud State) at Capital Volleyball Academy out of Madison.
