Both schools have a lot to talk about this regular season. Marist (33-2 overall, 6-1 in the East Suburban Catholic) won a few tournaments along the way, including the prestigious Asics Challenge. Benet (33-2 overall, 6-1 in the East Suburban Catholic) donned a few tournaments of their own. Recently, they won the Glenbard Autumnfest and earlier in the season, they defeated Marst in the final in the Wheaton Classic.
Why does this matter now? It matters because of the message sent by Marist. In the home match for the Red Hawks, Marist ruined Benet’s perfect season and did it in a fashion that left no-one wondering who is the team to beat come State tournament time. If all goes according to plan (which rarely happens), it should be the best volleyball witnessed all season!
