In the IHSA 3A semifinal matches, Sterling defeated Nazareth and Joliet Catholic (JCA) beat University Normal (U-High), both matches in straight sets. Pairs of players and in some cases, pairs of pairs highlighted the bracket.

Sterling def. Nazareth 25-19, 25-18

Dynamic Duo #1 -
Bree Borum (2020, 6'0, RS/S, Sterling)
Alexis Rodriguez (2021, 5'7, L, Sterling)
Bree Borum had 7 kills for the match, all off of Alexis Rodriguez's sets. Although playing the libero position, Rodriguez is really a setter in this scheme. Her first past was always perfect and Bree would put that ball down with that big lefty swing of hers.
Dynamic Duo #2 -
Bree Borum (2020, 6'0, RS/S, Sterling)
Brooklyn Borum (2020, 6'0, OH, Sterling)
Not a misprint, the twins were bookends for Sterling, getting kills at either antenna, during the same rotation. Bree had 13 assists, 12 of them had to be to sister Brook!

Dynamic <del>Dou</del> Trio
Kathrine Sandt, (2023, 5'11, S, Nazareth)
The three combined for 16-of-22 Nazareth kills and 18 of the teams 21 sets. Hurta had 8 kills, 3 assists, 1 service ace, and a team-high 7 digs.
