The Class of 2021 has a little bit of everything with top attackers scattered across the state. They will all get to do battle on December 7 at MVP Sports Center from 9-11 where some of the best in the state will be competing. Here is Part 2 of the Class of 2021 and the terminal attackers who we will be able to see in Des Moines.
Martha Pace – West Liberty
Martha PacePace was a major part of the Comets success this past season, advancing to the Class 3A State Tournament. A pure six rotation outside, Pace brings an athletic style where she can take what the defense gives her going line, cross, high hands, or finding a creative way to score points. Solid in the backrow as well, Pace has been a big part of her high school team’s success as well as playing for Iowa Rockets. She is definitely one to watch that would be a great fit at the next level for 2021 attackers.
Emma Schubert – Davenport Assumption
Really athletic and physical, Schubert is incredibly fast to the ball with her attacking. A violent swing where she isn’t afraid to go for the big shot, Schubert is another six rotation outside who can hammer from any rotation on the court. A solid passer in serve receive and a threat to score out of the backrow, Schubert was a key part to Assumptions success this entire season and will be a big go to player for Iowa Select this club season.
Hailey Pollock – Clear Creak-Amana
Pollock has been rising and rising up the ranks in Iowa as a middle blocker and will be heading to Western Illinois. Committed athletes and all great athletes want to be able to compete against the best and Pollock will be doing so along with her new Six Pack 17s team who has a strong showing at the Iowa Top 250. This team will be a major threat to the rest of the state as well as other teams in the nation come qualifier season.
Annie Stotlar – Bettendorf
Stotlar will be coming from the Quad Cities as an attacker who will be the top returning point scorer for Bettendorf next year who fell one match shy of the stat tournament. With just under 200 kills this past season, Stotlar will be depended upon to carry more swings for the Bulldogs in 2020, but first she will be looking for a successful season with Iowa Rockets.
Macy Vanfossan – Underwood
Underwood had a big year, advancing to the regional final before the attacking of Vanfossan and Zoe Rus. Vanfossan was everywhere for the Eagles collecting nearly 400 kills and over 300 digs. The six rotation outside hitter brings a physical style to the court. Vanfossan has High Performance experience as well. She plays her club for SWI out of Council Bluffs which has been a huge addition to the Iowa club scene providing plenty of talent out of Southwest Iowa.
Natalie WelchElyse Winter – Xavier
Winter will be another talent outside hitter who will be joining an extremely deep and powerful Six Pack 17s squad this season. Winter brings a really physical style to the pin where she has a high contact point as well as the ability to change angles. A six rotation athlete with a really high ceiling, Winter has been an athlete who has consistently gotten better every time she steps on the court.
Natalie Welch – Mount Vernon
Welch is fresh off a state title for Mount Vernon, with the ability to be able to play big in tight matches as the Mustangs won four matches in a row that were five sets in the postseason. Welch is a mismatch for the opposing outside hitter at 6’1 and a high reach where she can really turn the block while still being able to score in transition. Welch has a high ceiling with where her game can go and will be fun to watch develop over this upcoming club season.
