A look at the last four matches in the opening round of the 2019 KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament follows.
Notre Dame 3, McCracken County 0: The Pandas shut out 1st Region champion McCracken County 3-0 in the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament on Friday.
Notre Dame won 25-6, 25-15, 25-19.
Kenley Way and Anna Long combined to lead Notre Dame at the net, delivering 10 kills and nine kills, respectively.
Grace Ward added 34 assists while Emma Grace recorded 10 digs in Notre Dame’s victory.
Owensboro Catholic 3, Campbell County 2: Determined 3rd Region champion Owensboro Catholic managed to edge Campbell County 3-2 in the opening round of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament on Friday.
Owensboro Catholic triumphed 25-27, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 15-8.
The two teams combined to drop in 54 kills.
Cassidy Towery led Owensboro Catholic with 16 kills.
Pacing 10th Region champion Campbell County, Hope Russell landed 16 kills of her own.
Henry Clay 3, West Jessamine 0: Henry Clay handled its opponent in the opening round of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament, shutting out 12th Region champion West Jessamine 3-0.
The champion out of the 11th Region, Henry Clay prevailed 25-13, 25-10, 25-16.
Taylor Trammell dropped in 12 kills while Sara Shadwick posted 20 assists for the Devils.
Corbin 3, Rowan County 1: Corbin pulled away to beat Rowan County 3-1 in the final match of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament’s opening round.
The champion out of the 13th Region, Corbin won 25-15, 20-25, 25-21, 25-14.
Leading Corbin to the victory, Chloe Adams drilled 18 kills and Mickayla Coppock recorded 37 assists.
Looking ahead: The schedule for the second round of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament on Saturday is as follows: 10 a.m. – Greenwood vs. Notre Dame; 11:30 a.m. – Assumption vs. Henry Clay; 1 p.m. – Notre Dame vs. Owensboro Catholic; 2:30 p.m. – Corbin vs. Mercy, 2:30 p.m.
The semifinals of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament are set for 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
