<p>Assumption captured its third straight KHSAA Volleyball State Championship at Valley High School on Sunday, shutting out rival Mercy 3-0 in the 2019 title match.</p>
<p>National high school volleyball powerhouse Assumption claimed the 22nd state title in its tradition-rich history, which has spanned 28 years. </p>
<p>Assumption won 25-22, 25-21, 25-18 over Mercy.</p>
<p>Ms. Kentucky Volleyball Anna DeBeer was named the MVP of the state tournament. DeBeer, who has committed to Louisville, led Assumption with 19 kills and nine digs. Rylee Rader, a standout who was named Ms. Kentucky Volleyball in 2018, added 11 kills for the Rockets. Both DeBeer and Rader have been honored as First Team Under Armour All-Americans.</p>
<p>Veteran head coach Ron Kordes guided Assumption to the 2019 state volleyball title.</p>
<p>Caitlin Carpenter paced Mercy with 13 kills. In another solid defensive effort for the Jaguars, Eleanor Bevin registered a match-high 18 digs. </p>
<p>The Rockets defeated Mercy for the third time in the 2019 high school volleyball season. When the two Louisville high school volleyball rivals met during the regular-season, Assumption won 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22 on Sept. 9 and 25-19, 25-20, 29-27 on Oct. 10.</p>
<p>Following the high school state tournament, numerous members of each high school volleyball program will move on to club teams. </p>
