Maximizing Top 250 Experience With College Coaches
Top 250’s will be kicking off this weekend in Des Moines on Saturday and the Omaha area on Sunday with Minneapolis and Milwaukee the following weekend. The event goes beyond the two hours of play with articles before and after as well as extensive social media all throughout, how can athletes expand their experience beyond the event?
Communicating With a College Coach
Everyone at the Top 250, players and coaches included, will be looking for something different. Some college coaches will be in attendance with a lens looking at all players, same for players, they will be open to any school. However, depending on the recruiting process there may be athletes who may be showing what they can do after a full high school season and give a glimpse of what can be seen for the 2020 club season. Some college coaches might be going to see only a couple of players. A personalized email to any of the colleges in attendance would be a great introduction saying you are looking forward to seeing them at the Top 250. Depending on NCAA or NAIA rules, athletes may be able to talk with them as well at the event.
But, Colleges I’m Interested Won’t Be There
This event will be a chance to compete against some of the best and other athletes who are interested playing at the college level. Top competition and a chance to play with other really talented athletes always brings the opportunity to learn and improve. Here are a few helpful ideas in being able to expand the event beyond the two hours of playing:
Invite a College Coach – don’t see the college coach on the list? Send them an email saying you will be competing at a Top 250 Expo through Prep Dig.
Copy Articles to Send to College Coaches – Prep Dig will have articles before the event and after the event with various mentions of athletes. A snippet of an article where the athlete’s name is mentioned can be powerful. We do have a large database of college coaches as subscribers and sending them a link or a piece of an article from the event is another way to connect.
CMM Highlights and Video – CMM Volleyball Highlights will be available for a highlight video where they will have cameras set up on each court (both sides). They will comprise a highlight video of just over a minute where it is a great way to show skill to college coaches to start the 2020 club season.
Plenty of Social Media
All athletes have received a welcome tweet as well as an insta story prior to the event. Prep Dig will be providing pictures and video throughout the event on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I will be providing updates at the events via my Twitter Page, @PrepDigChris and then shared out to the state accounts.
