Kennedy Jones of SWI3D 17 Black – Kennedy plays for Glenwood during the school season with more than .922 serve efficiency, 24 aces, and 66 total blocks. She has been getting a lot of play time as a middle for her club team and her coach says she is really, really good. I saw her play against the SWI3D 18 Black team, the eventual winners on Sunday, and she is an athlete to contend with. She helped her team hold their own and split sets causing them to go to three to determine the champion of their division.
Zoe Lutz Zoe Lutz OH Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln | 2021 State IA of SWI3D 17 Black – Zoe plays for Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln during her regular school season last fall. She has been playing middle for her club team this season and has been killing it. She has been playing with some of the best players in the region and though she didn’t have a lot of regular season school play this past fall, she is able to maintain control and block some of the best hitters in the region. I watched her block Elaina Bohnet Elaina Bohnet 5'10" | OH Council Bluffs Lincoln | 2020 State IA , Delaney Esterling Delaney Esterling S Lewis Central | 2020 State IA , and Precious Daley from Des Moines Roosevelt Riders 18s this tournament. These are some really big time hitters so she deserves to be listed as one of the best middles from this weekend.
Kayla Schliefman Kayla Schliefman MB Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln | 2021 State IA of SWI3D 18 Black – Kayla plays for Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln during her regular school season and had a hitting efficiency of .429 with 2.41 KPS, and 114 total blocks! She is a terrifying middle to be facing across the net and the best blocker at her high school.
Shelby Voeller of Des Moines Roosevelt Riders 18s – Shelby plays for PCM for her regular high school season. She is a setter for her high school but for club she is a very impressive middle. She shows great versatility and a mastery of both positions. Her coach listed her as one of the best during tournament play this weekend.
Liz Carbaugh of SWI3D 16 Black – Liz plays for Red Oak during her regular high school season and had 10 sets in the 14 sets she got to play in for the fall season. She will get more opportunities in the coming seasons. She played lights out for her club team this weekend to help them win their division.
Bailey Girres of SWI3D 16 Black – Bailey plays for Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln for her regular season high school team. She had a .381 hitting efficiency with 1.81 KPS. She also had .911 serve efficiency with 53 aces, and a total of 97 blocks on their way to state last fall. She is definitely one to watch.
Samara Alcaraz of SWI3D 15 Gray – Samara plays for Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson during the school season and though she did not get much court time as a freshman, I witnessed her getting huge blocks all through the summer last year and at almost all of her jv games and varsity games she played in last fall. She is definitely going to be a middle to watch in the future. Her coach listed her as having huge middle plays this tournament. Way to go, Samara!
Great job, ladies! Keep up the good work!
