Listed below are some 2021 prospects who will be competing at the M1 scrimmages this weekend. Division 1 coaches are still in a quiet period meaning they cannot leave campus to recruit, however this is prime time for other divisions to get a kickstart on their recruiting. Keep tabs on these 2021 prospects not only for this weekend, but for the 2020 club season.
Katy Garrison – Iowa Rockets 17R
Garrison is well trained and has a really strong presence on the right side as a point scorer as well as a strong block. This past season she was a key piece for Xavier enroute to their state tournament appearance where she also has a deadly serve that can score points as well. The Iowa Rockets 17R team will take the place of the Iowa Rockets 18R squad this weekend. For Iowa Rockets, the “R” teams are the top teams.
Hanna Thompson – M1 17-1
Thompson brings a ton of athleticism to the court where she can contribute to the middle or the right side. She has a quick snap of an arm swing and the athleticism to get from pin to pin. The M1 17-1 squad is going to be one to keep tabs on all season with a really athletic lineup who can create a lot of scoring opportunities in a variety of ways.
Rachel Wieber – M1 17-1
Wieber was part of a really strong Northfield team this season and was a key contributor. A strong and athletic attacker, Wieber will provide plenty of depth to multiple positions where she can contribute on either pin.
WedgburyEmmy Wedgbury – CIA 17 Black
Wedgbury is rock solid. From her athleticism, all around skill, character, and academic’s she is one to have in your gym at the next level. Her top position would be as a libero, but this past high school season she was a right side for the Cedar Falls state championship squad. Her background in beach is very apparent with her ability to read the other side of the night, put up a really nice second contact, and anticipate the next play.
Teagan Starkey – MN Select 17-1 (Title Photo)
Starkey is long and athletic where she can set multiple tempos while also being a big-time threat to score points herself. She has the intangibles to contribute at a high level being a 5-1 setter and will be really key to the success for MN Select 17-1 who has some new players added to the mix this season.
Saari Kuehl – Six Pack 17-1
KuehlKuehl is a new athlete to Six Pack after playing for CIA where she is long, athletic, and really strong from the outside and can contribute from the front and backrow. Kuehl is an all-around athlete where she plays basketball and was a state track participant in high jump.
Ryley Frye – Northern Lights 17-1
Frye has been a little under the radar, but she brings a grit to the court where she is quick, has a great release, and can play at a really high level. She will provide plenty of depth for a Northern Lights squad who has the makings to have a really big year with high powered commits, including Kennedi Orr who has already won a USAV 17 Open Championship two years ago when she was playing two age groups up.
Jolie Stecher – SMV 18 Black
Stecher has been picking up momentum all season after winning a state championship with Stewartville. Stecher will be joined by a few high school teammates on the SMV 18 Black squad, including Stewartville setter Jaidyn Brower. They will bring back some key pieces to their state championship team and will be gearing up to repeat in 2020.
Adisa Preston – Vital Volleyball 17-1 Gold
Preston might be one of the top leapers in the gym this weekend and will be one of the point scorers for Vital Volleyball . The Junior out of Eden Prairie was part of a much improved Eagle squad who will be back with some strong athletes for the 2020 season.
Madison Gully – Minnesota Volleyball Academy 17 Elite
Gully is explosive on the outside for a really well trained and talented MVA 17 Elite squad. Gully can hit a variety of shots where she can go sharp cross, split, or turn it down the line. She will be heavily depended upon to score points. Class of 2022 libero Jackie Yang is incredibly talented and will be key into getting MVA in system.
Abby Thompson – MN North 17-1
Thompson is quite a force in the middle for MN North. Strong, athletic, and long, Thompson stands at 6’1, but can move along the net easily and can really force an opposing hitter to change their shot with a big blocking presence.
