River City 18 Navy
This team was the champion this weekend and had many players who deserve some recognition.
Katie is a really strong player listed as an OH on her team’s roster though she actually played as a 6 rotation player at this tournament. She is fast and smart, with really good court awareness and an uncanny ability to save balls from going out of play and getting them back to her teammates for points. She produces points and balances this team and was a pleasure to watch. Katie is a junior who will graduate in 2021 from Bellevue East in Nebraska. Her stats last season were 3.0 KPS, .913 serve efficiency with 35 aces, 1.6 DPS, and 33 total blocks. She is definitely one to watch.
Ella Matthies Ella Matthies 5'9" | DS/L Omaha Roncalli | 2021 State NE –
Ella is another really strong OH on this team’s roster. Ella attends Roncalli Catholic and will be a 2021 graduate. She is consistent, methodical, and a great player. Her stats last fall were 2.9 KPS and 21 total blocks. She is better than her school stats look and I would expect her to be a great pick for the next level.
River City 18 Red
Caitlin Keating –
Caitlin is a right-side hitter that plays as an all-around 6 rotation player for this team. She is really good and really quick. Caitlin attends Roncalli Catholic and will graduate in 2021. Her stats last fall included 18 total blocks. She was everywhere at this tournament and was the stable, mobilizing force for her team.

Paige Smith Paige Smith 5'9" | OH Sidney | 2021 State IA –
Paige is a junior who will graduate from state championship winners, Sidney High School in 2021. She plays as an OH on this club team and plays all-around. She can receive, dig, hit, set, and serve very well. She definitely has command of all of the skills needed to play at the next level. Her stats last fall were 1.79 KPS, a .955 serve efficiency with 35 aces, 2.9 DPS, and 22 total blocks. She played in all 115 sets for her high school team who are the Class 1A Iowa State Champions for 2019.
[player_tooltip player_id="93045" first="Elizabeth" last="Elkins"] class of 2021.Elizabeth Elkins Elizabeth Elkins 5'9" | OH Council Bluffs St. Albert | 2021 State IA –
Elizabeth performed her warm-ups at this tournament wearing a t-shirt saying Elevator on the back. Her team gave all of the girls on this team these shirts after deciding what role each player performed for their team. Elizabeth is one of the team captains and the court captain for her team this year. She is the highest point earner for her team and is a joy to watch on the court. She never gives up. She is a 6-rotation player who hits from wherever she is on the court effectively. For this team, she is the go-to player to stop an opponent’s run, to finish a match off, to get them a comfortable lead. Elizabeth played for Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson last fall then transferred to Saint Albert following the season. Next fall she will team-up with the likes of Allie Petry Allie Petry 5'7" | DS/L Council Bluffs St. Albert | 2021 State IA at Saint Albert to see what she can do in her last high school season. Her last school season stats were 2.39 KPS, a .815 serve efficiency with 46 aces, 2.16 DPS, and 19 total blocks.
River City 17 Navy
Ava Cunningham –
Ava is a junior at Papillion Lavista High School who will graduate in 2021. She is an OH for her club team this season but actually plays a really good 6-rotation role that is vital to this team’s success. Last fall she had 1.8 KPS, a .923 serve efficiency with 2 aces and 3 total blocks.
River City 16 Navy
Madi Cushing –
Madi is a really good OH for her team and a nice 6-rotation player. She has great court awareness and great timing. She is definitely one to watch!
