The Iowa Class of 2021 is deep, that’s nothing new, and by far no secret for these athletes who are looking to play at the next level. With teams unable to play the next few weeks and colleges unable to recruit or host visits until April 15, Prep Dig will be blasting the web with athletes to take a closer look at from all classes. The Class of 2021, the current Junior Class, is in the thick of choosing which path to take. The colleges are in the same boat. Here are a few athletes from the Class of 2021 not to sleep on.

Lineya Wells - MVP 17 Red - Sioux City East

[caption id="attachment_86191" align="alignright" width="220"] Lineya Wells[/caption]

Wells is out of the Sioux City area and had a breakout year this past season at Sioux City East from the pin. What stands out right away for Wells is her leaping ability which was apparent at the Iowa Top 250. Wells is lethal with her ability to turn down the line or really hit a sharp angle. Taking a look at a few highlights, Wells is really strong when she can attack three or four feet in from the pin, but she has a whole court of options to score points. A strong track athlete as well, her explosiveness will translate well to the next level. Her intended major is Psychology with an emphasis on Behavioral Therapy.

[player_tooltip player_id="41322" first="Kelsey" last="Koberg"] - Adrenaline - Cedar Rapids Xavier

Koberg is just an all around player and athlete where she can swing on the pin or could be a really strong swing out of the backrow as a defensive specialist. She has a background in beach and is also a golfer as well. She has a savviness to the game where she can score points and put a pass on point. After coming off a concussion and mono, Koberg is back and will be priming for a big summer on the sand as well as a strong Senior year at Xavier where the Saints will be a top team to contend with in Class 4A.

[player_tooltip player_id="41323" first="Maya" last="Morales"] - Iowa Rockets - City High

Morales is really long and athletic as a libero where she can cover a ton of ground. A steady and dependable presence in the backrow for Rockets as well as Iowa City High, she has asserted herself as one to watch in Eastern Iowa. She will be coming into her Senior season as one of the top liberos in the MVC-Mississippi Division.

[player_tooltip player_id="79025" first="Gracie" last="Ehret"] - Iowa Rockets - Williamsburg

Great hands. Under control. Ehret runs the offense with efficiency and is extremely smooth with how she can get to the ball and takes it with her hands instead of jump setting. She’s quick and has a knack for who is the best option in system. She’s also left handed which always adds another dimension to her game where she can find a way to score points on the second contact.

Maddie Weber - CIA - Waukee

Watching multiple clubs this season, I can see where Waukee is really going to make a strong push this next high school season with multiple weapons which includes Maddie Weber who can play on either pin and is quite the leaper. Weber jumped on to the scene at the Iowa Top 250 where she showed big hops and an arm to go with.

Annabelle Costello - Iowa Select - Davenport Assumption (Title Photo)

Costello is another one of those efficient setters who just knows how to put in attackers in a place where to score. She ran the show for Assumption who made it to the Class 3A state tournament last year and will be looking to get them back to Cedar Rapids. She puts a great ball up for the likes of fellow 2021 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="17244" first="Emma" last="Schubert"] who is a massive point scorer on the outside.

[player_tooltip player_id="79026" first="Jori" last="Hajek"] - Humboldt

Hajek has been a back to back All-District performer for Humboldt who has always been in the mix for a state tournament berth. Undersized on the outside, but she can jump out of the gym and really put a hammer on the ball. She is also one who can score points out of the backrow and be a threat no matter where she is on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="79037" first="Isabelle" last="Kronenberg"] - Iowa PowerPlex - Dowling Catholic

[caption id="attachment_86192" align="alignright" width="418"] [player_tooltip player_id="17246" first="Layanna" last="Green"] #4 and Kronenberg #18[/caption]

Kronenberg has a really high touch on the right side with a left handed swing that can create a definite mismatch. With her block and ability to alter shots from the other side of the net, Kronenberg is one that the other side has to always be aware of. With her Senior year coming up at Dowling, the Maroons with have an incredibly deep front line.

Kinzie Zinnel - Iowa Heart - Boone

An All-State libero Zinnel will be an absolutely steal at the next level with her ability to serve receive and take pace off the ball. She was one of the top dig leaders in Class 4A and really played well against some of the top athletes at the Iowa Top 250. Big time player others will be taking note of.

[player_tooltip player_id="79015" first="Nessa" last="Johnson"] - Gilbert

Johnson spent this past winter helping Gilbert advance to the state basketball tournament with another dual-sport star in [player_tooltip player_id="17250" first="Thea" last="Rotto"]. Johnson is left-handed and can set and swing from the right side. Her overall athleticism and physicality brings a major upside to her game.
