Six Louisville Freshmen Outside Hitters to Watch

<p>Freshmen outside hitters from Louisville are among the top high school volleyball underclassmen in the state. </p> <p>Several Louisville-based outside hitters will contribute for their high school volleyball teams as sophomores later in the year. </p> <p>Here are six Louisville freshmen outside hitters to watch. </p> <p><strong>Lauren Bohn:</strong> A 5-9 freshman outside hitter, Bohn is a student-athlete from Male High School. A promising young outside hitter, Bohn has displayed the ability to vary her approach and consistently land hits. Bohn is competing for Union Asics 16-2. </p> <p><strong>Sydney Helmers:</strong> A 6-1 freshman outside hitter, Helmers is a student-athlete from Assumption High School. One of the top young volleyball players in the state, Helmers made the varsity roster for powerhouse Assumption as a freshman. Providing high energy, Helmers has already developed a variety of shots and shown the ability to spread the ball around. Helmers is competing for KIVA 15 Red. </p> <p><strong>Alison Moneypenny:</strong> A 5-9 freshman outside hitter, Moneypenny is a student-athlete from Sacred Heart Academy. Agile and quick reacting, Moneypenny has shown the ability to consistently block and pass while delivering in the serve receive department. Moneypenny is competing for Union Asics 16-2. </p> <p><strong>Katie Poynter:</strong> A 5-8 freshman outside hitter, Poynter is a student-athlete from Mercy Academy. An athletic outside hitter, Poynter is a solid passer who reacts quickly. Poynter is competing for Union Asics 16-1. </p> <p><strong>Lydia Stephens:</strong> A 5-9 freshman outside hitter/defensive specialist, Stephens is a student-athlete from reigning state champion Assumption High School. With the ability to contribute offensively and defensively, Stephens moves well and provides precise passing. Stephens Stephens is competing for KIVA 15 Red. </p> <p><strong>Alexis Strong:</strong> A 6-1 freshman outside hitter/opposite hitter, Strong is a student-athlete from Assumption High School. A versatile performer, Strong is stout hitting from either side. The hard-hitting Strong is also productive as a passer and has shown solid defensive skills as well. Strong is competing for KIVA 15 Red. </p>
