The Madison area is home to plenty of top athletes both with in the city and the surrounding area. The “Madison Section” for Division 2 last year had at times six teams in the top ten. In this year’s senior class there are athletes going to the likes of Kentucky ([player_tooltip player_id="33252" first="Elise" last="Goetzinger"]), Loyola-Chicago ([player_tooltip player_id="56005" first="KJ" last="McNabb"]), and Buffalo (Mila Mallik). Who is coming up from the Madison that is uncommitted and on the radar to college coaches.

Natalie Compe - Capital 17 Adidas - De Forest

Compe is uber athletic and springy as an outside. She has a high contact point where she can go sharp cross or find an open spot down the line. As she heads into her 2020 Senior season, she will be the leading attacker for the Norskie’s where she had over 250 kills last year and will see a large bulk of the sets.

[player_tooltip player_id="80718" first="Josie" last="Halbleib"] - FC Elite 18 Elite - Sun Prairie

[caption id="attachment_89530" align="alignright" width="223"] Halbleib[/caption]

Halbleib is the top available setter in the Class of 2021, standing at 6’2, left-handed and the ability to jump set and swing to score points. She’s played in two state tournaments for Sun Prairie and will looking for a third in her Senior season. Since her 15s year, Halbleib has developed her all around game and can even play on the right side as well. Her best is still ahead of her with her athleticism and intangibles.

[player_tooltip player_id="80746" first="Jada" last="Cerniglia"] - Milwaukee Sting 17 Black - Middleton

Cerniglia is a scrappy libero who has been playing to Sting 17 Black. I first saw Cerniglia play libero for Madison Sting United at the 2019 Prep Dig Gauntlet where she was with Kuepers on an extremely athletic team. Cerniglia has the athleticism and grit to cover some range. She had over 350 digs for Middleton last year who will be returning some key players from a young team in 2019.

[player_tooltip player_id="56496" first="Payton" last="Kuepers"] - Milwaukee Sting 17 Black - Lakeside Lutheran

Kuepers had a breakout year this past high school season and was picking up a ton of momentum this club season for Sting 17 Black. She brings a powerful swing and aggressive approach where she can score points in a variety of ways. This past season for Lakeside Lutheran, she had over 350 kills and is definitely a solid pick up as someone who can score on either pin at the next level.

Joslynn Wolf- FC Elite 17 Navy - Waterloo

Can we consider Waterloo in the Madison area? It’s about 30 miles away so why not? Wolff is one of the top pin attackers in the area. Much like Kuepers, she brings a heavy swing and has been a key piece to the Waterloo squad where her and [player_tooltip player_id="21869" first="Brooke" last="Mosher"] will be looking to lead the Pirates back to the state tournament. Wolff has also set when needed. Her place is on the outside and has a strong backcourt game where she can play in six rotations.

[player_tooltip player_id="80762" first="Maia" last="Johnson"] - Capital 17 Adidas - Madison Memorial

Madison Memorial could be a bit of a sleeper in the Madison area this upcoming high school season with five attackers who had over 100 kills led by [player_tooltip player_id="80762" first="Maia" last="Johnson"]. Johnson plays out of the middle, but has a dynamic style where she can block, transition, and score in a variety of ways. Always a key piece to the success of CVA, Johnson is definitely on the radar at the next level.

Other Notable 2021’s (Quick Question.....are towns like Watertown and Fort Atkinson considered "Madison Area")

[player_tooltip player_id="80727" first="Emma" last="Mans"] - Sting 17 Black - Fort Atkinson

[player_tooltip player_id="33784" first="Alayna" last="Westenberg"] - Capital 17 Adidas - Watertown

[player_tooltip player_id="56478" first="Kennedy" last="Pugh"] - Capital 17 Navy - Watertown

Chloe Larsen - DeForest

[player_tooltip player_id="80789" first="Mariah" last="Best"] - Capital 17 Adidas - Waunakee
