All over the state there are competitive club programs and in each club there are talented athletes. What would it look like if the top players from all over the state competed on the same club team? What players would make the most successful team? Below is a roster of Kentucky 16s who may just top that list! This list is constructed on the base of one-position for each athlete and includes possible alternates at the bottom.

Outside and Right-side Attackers

[player_tooltip player_id="68136" first="Lucy" last="Trump"], 6’0, Ryle High School, TSE 17 Blue - Committed to Notre Dame : Trump is without a doubt one of the best players currently in the state. She has been a starting member of Ryle’s Varsity Program for 3 years-first playing as an 8th Grader. In her 3-Year career she has totaled 1164 Kills, 106 Blocks, 542 digs, and 128 aces. This 9th Region reigning player of the year will likely surpass the 2000 kill mark by her senior year. Trump is an all-around skilled player who can score no matter where she is on the court.

Grace Brooker, 6’3, Great Crossing, Lex United 16 Adidas - Uncommitted : A 6’3 powerhouse at the net, Brookers’ sets an intimidating wall on the rightside. Her block reach and length allow her to stop even the best of outsides. While her strength lies in her block, she is also a skilled attacker. Brooker is able to hit multiple shots and has quite the line swing.

Amanda Dawson, 5’11, Dunbar, Lex United 66 Adidas - Uncommitted: Dawson did not see much playing time during the 2019 season for PLDHS. However, she came out swinging during the first months of the 2020 club season. Her fire and relentless effort is what earns her a spot on this roster.

[player_tooltip player_id="68130" first="Tess" last="Schrenger"], 5’11, Sacred Heart, KIVA Asics 16 Red - Uncommitted: In Schrenger’s second year on varsity (2019) she was second in kills with 324 and fourth in digs with 173. As Senior Middle Block, [player_tooltip player_id="68021" first="Kristen" last="Clemons"] graduates, Schrenger will become the go-to attacker for Sacred Heart in 2020.

Middle Blockers

Kelsey Hillebrand, 6’2, North Oldham, Union ASICS 16-1 - Uncommitted: Hillebrand is another player on the list who may not get the praise she deserves. At 6’2 she is in a defensive force at the net. Hillebrand also connects well with a high reach. She appeared in 25 sets for the Mustangs in 2019 and will be competing for a starting role come 2020.

[player_tooltip player_id="68127" first="Taylor" last="Preston"], 6’2, St. Henry High School, NKYVC 16 Tsunami - Uncommitted: Preston is another member of the 2022 class that is well-recognized for her high-level talent. As a sophomore, Preston was named to the KVCA First-Team All-state; she is simply the kind of athlete you prepare for a match around. Preston led the top ranked Crusaders with 404 kills; while, also putting up 196 digs and 176 receptions. A middle-blocker by trade but an all-around threat by nature.

Setters

Ella Teeley: 5’10, Mercy Academy, UNION 16-1 ASICS - Uncommitted: A tall setter with natural hands, Teeley is a threat in the front and back row. As she enters her Junior Year at Mercy Academy in 2020 she will be fighting for a varsity role to support Senior Setter [player_tooltip player_id="68067" first="Elena" last="Scott"].

Megan Gore: 5’9, Greenwood High School, SKEVA 16 Blue - Uncommitted: Gore was the starting setter for the competitive Greenwood Gators. She totaled 894 assists and 176 digs on the season. Gore is a quick and talented setter who is able to take a bad pass and create an opportunity on offense.

DS/Liberos

Abby Schafer: 5’8, St. Henry High School, NKYVC 16 Tsunami - Uncommitted: In her second season as Libero for the crusaders, Schafer led the team with 532 digs - compared to her 239 from 2018. She is most impressive in serve receive, however. Schafer commands the ball and passes with extreme poise and tempo. In 2019 she had 415 serve receptions.

Audrey Whitworth: 5’5, Breckinridge County, KIVA 16 Red - Uncommitted: Whitworth is a truly versatile athlete, who can play any position in the back row. She led Breckenridge County in digs on the season and rarely let a ball drop.

ALTERNATES

Outside and Right-side Attackers

Rylee McKinney: 5’11, Campbell County, NKYVC 16 Tide - Uncommitted: McKinney, as a second-year varsity starter for the camels, earned the second most kills and digs on the season. She was also awarded to the 9th Region 1st Team in 2019.

Middle Blockers

Madison-Rice Lockett: 6’0, Male, KIVA 16 Red - Uncommitted: Lockett is a versatile attacker who can dominate in the middle or execute from a pin. She has been a member of the Varsity program at Male since the 2017 season; making her varsity debut as an 8th grader.

Setters

Madi Winfield: 5’9, Mercy Academy, Union ASICS 16-2 - Uncommitted: Another strong setter hoping to earn a varsity position in 2020 at the top ranked mercy academy. She is smart with her placement and deceives the opposing side well.

DS/Liberos

Riley Mcchord: 5’7, Lafayette, Lex United 16 Adidas - Uncommitted: Mcchord was the Libero in 2019 for the 26-10 generals. She is a true athlete and play-maker in the back court; often making the most unexpected plays.
