We continue our alphabetical journey of Indiana by naming our top recruits whose names start with ’A’ from all classes. This is the first of two A-lists we’ll see this week.

[player_tooltip player_id="85692" first="Ashleigh" last="White"], ’21, 5-11, OH, Academy 17 Elite Tsunami, Lawrence North High School

Ashleigh, a converted middle, is far and away the heaviest-hitting outside on the list of ’21’s still available at this point. Her middle blocking experience makes her very tough to beat on the block, and she’s slowly learning defense as a front row player. Since her attack touch, by now, is clearing ten feet, it is apparent to this author that Miss Whiten should be seeing more attention once club season comes back.

[player_tooltip player_id="85821" first="Avery" last="Moore"], ’22, 5-9, OH, Team Indiana Elite 16 Molten, Zionsville High School

Avery is a springy outside hitter that can play six rotations and is a positive influence to all who play with her. She’s adept at both pins, and can hit any tempo in any location. Her additional ability to pass at a high level puts her high on this list. I look forward to watching Miss Moore develop as we get to the fall.

[player_tooltip player_id="85822" first="Avery" last="Ross"], ’22, 5-9, OH, Munciana 16 Ninjas, Pendleton Heights High School

From a non-traditional volleyball school in the Muncie area, Avery is clearly the best option the Arabians have in the class of ’22. Although she doesn’t bury balls like the two ladies listed above, she’s very terminal in her attacks and what she lacks in raw power she more than makes up for in shot selection and the ability to go over blocks. Her vision of the block and court also set her apart from most kids here in Indiana.

[player_tooltip player_id="85826" first="Ava" last="Vickers"], ’23, 6-0, MB, Munciana 16 Ninjas, Fishers High School

The first of two kids on this list playing up this club season, Ava is a solid M2 with excellent training at both the club (Randy Gardner) and high school (Steven Peek) levels. She has always played on a 1s team in Central Indiana, and it shows in her understanding of basic fundamentals and abilities. I haven’t seen a lot from this kid behind the setter, so expect an update from me on Ava later in the fall. For now, however, Ava should be receiving more attention than usual from her size alone.

[player_tooltip player_id="85910" first="Ainsley" last="Loeffel"], ’23, 5-10, MB, Grand Park 16 Elite Pegasus, Westfield High School

Also playing up this season, you wouldn’t know it on this team, as she meshes well with the older kids both on her side of the net and opposing her. Her speed beats most of the lumbering middles Indiana has to offer at this level, and her smarts beat everyone else. I liked watching her regional team knock around some of the more established national-level programs at a tourney in February. This is another profile that I look forward to updating once we get into fall ball.
